Thank You and yes, at about the time he retired it was all over at least with Chrysler sponsorship AND Factory Teams . We can only speculate on what effect the insurance industry and federal EPA changes had on Chrysler's decision to jump ship. Then there was that little oil embargo thing looming on the horizon that changed ah few things a year or so later. A little interesting side bar on Ronnie. I was told the he was about the only one left in the entire corporation that came up through the ranks without a degree which I thought was very interesting and spoke volumes about the man. As for the two Larry's. My friends primary job under Ronnie was to make sure the all the teams had every thing they needed for their cars be it torsion bars, steering knuckles, sheet metal, or 426s. My understanding was that Rathgeb was kept busy working with jobbers+ suppliers be it Goodyear, Firestone or who ever for what ever was needed. The two Larry's and I did go deer hunting together one November back then. Rathgeb owned 80 acres up north of Grand Rapids, Mi. that he kept an old 28' trailer on. No great stories there, AND nobody hurt Bambi. At my friends request I did take Dave Marcus fishing one time in either '69 or '70 too. No great stories there either other then he and I had a great afternoon bench racing and drowning worms. I always felt kinda bad for Dave 'cuz he never seemed to get the big money sponsorship that would have helped him get to the top. He was a darn good driver but like most things, it takes the big bucks to win big. Done for now, Jer
