Hello all i have a 72 440 i am looking to put in my 65 fury and i know that i can buy mounts but i would have to drill and tap two bolt holes on the bosses behind the oil filter to use them with the stock poly k member. Ive heard that if i had a v8 k member from a 66 drilling wouldnt be nessisary and it would mount up no problem wich brings me to the question, will the k member from a 66 swap to a 65?

I did the oil boss thing, it went really well, i cut and modified my stock mount, and put a grade 8 bolts both in the boss and through the mount. So far it's holding doing hole shots with 275 drag radials. I can take pics if it helps anyone.

I've been told that some 70's blocks had those bosses drilled for smaller bolts for power steering pump brackets. Don't know for what applications.

Check your block if you haven't already. You might not need to do any drilling to use the Schumacher kit.

A lot of the 383/400 blocks have these pads (tapped and all). You are more likely to find the 440 with them if it is a 75-78 but it is not a given. Some 440s have one pad, some have two, sometimes they are tapped, sometimes not. Very hard to say unless you look.
Fellow 65 Fury owners will tell you, it doesn't really mount well unless you have both pads for the mount.

Just a couple quick shots showing start to finish. I mocked everything up and drilled a hole through the lower motor mount for my limiting bolt. Sorry for the fuzzy pics, I was concentrating on the job more than the pics.

Thanks for all the info guys. I think i will go the drill and tap route. The guy selling the k member wanted 450 for it. Thanks for the pics 65Fury440 ill inspect them for help through the progress.

Is the engine original or a re-man?

Some factory engines I've been told were built with under sized cranks or oversize pistons to correct defects. There would have to be a tag of some sort with that info on it. Like a lot of things Mopar I think it depends on who was working that day what method got used, what kind of tag and where it was attached.

I've seen re-man engines with those types of info tags too.

If the engine manufactured had bearings, cranks, pistons, etc, not to published specs, it was noted on the stamp pad.
The theory about it being a reman block makes sense.
