So I put in the new parts today amp, control switch, and the 3 prong vacuum switch by the amp. I have air and everything works but it still blows out the defrost. I can here the servo moving when I shut off the car so what's next. Vacuum leak or stuck door?

Try pushing defrost first, wait for fan to engage, then push lo or hi auto and see if the system cycles and blows air out the panel vents. I've seen Autotemps respond to this after being dormant for some time. This link is a good way to start understanding the system:

The jumping through hoops procedure just descibed by Mr. C is something I have to do occasionally on my current car and when I had yours Rush.

I have that page on my favorites. I'll be fixing the ignition switch before anything happens. I shut it off and went to leave and she went click then nothing. The key won't turn off so I'm thinking the pin broke off and it's stuck on. She is sitting in the yard and its raining with a hail coming. I need a crew to push it up hill to get it in the garage. Why did I sell my last car??????

So what is everyone using for a ignition switch? I've been searching and all I can find are ones without tilt and telescoping.

I think this is the part I'm looking for.

Nope... Not if you have tilt. Search AZ for pn. LS420.

The ignition switch is mounted under the dash on the column itself. If your problem is in the column where the key goes, that would be a ignition lock cylinder issue.

Is it possible that the ''oid'' shift leaver collar isn't in park? Maybe Stan can chime in on this, as I don't know what he did about that collar.

The key does nothing and there is no spring tension on it. The key switch is stuck in the on position.

Before you buy any parts, check under the dash to see if the rod that connects the lock cylinder to the switch ''popped'' out. It is kind of hard for that to happen giving the way the switch is mounted, but not impossible.

Thanks for your help. I'll check it first before I pull the thing apart. I did find the switch and you are right.

That's a new one.
Seems like more than a couple of items got messed up after here and before there... :icon_rolleyes:

I just got done from checking out Elenore . The rod pop out of the switch so I put it back in and when you turn the key it climbs out of the switch so I made a little adjustment to fix it. I turn the key and all I get is a click so I check the starter out and the little wire is loose. So I crawl under it and struggle to find a wrench to fit it and the winner is a 7mm really!!!!!!! Now it's running again but in the process I rolled over my glasses and now I'm headed to the store to get them fixed. I think I'm going to bar now and have a few stiff ones and lick my wounds. lol !!!!!! Good call on the rod.!!!!!!!!

7 mm on the starter nut? Wow, that's strange. I'm glad it's fixed now.

It's a new Denso mini from Mancini. That's probably why it's metric.

You know what's strange?
That car sent me to the bar many, many times....
