    Power Bench seat question

In your mention of "track system", I'm presuming you mean the complete seat track assy? Two side pieces with the motor, cables, and such between them? Whatever switch is used to run the motors (usually three of them) does not matter as the guts of the switches are most probably all the same...

Dropped instrument cluster - speedometer issue

There should be a fine-wire brass clock spring on the spindle that the speedo needle slides onto. That is what returns the needle to "0". Perhaps it popped out of its retainer on the backside of the speedo panel? Just some thoughts, CBODY67

    727 Torqueflite Rebuild Recommendations

B & M used to have the premier automatic transmission rebuild kits. Each kit could be built for "stock", "towing", or HD/Race, as I recall. To me, that might be the "safe choice", BUT . . . it seems that every transmission builder has their own "special mix" of certain brands of frictions...

Question on transmission lines and fluids

Dexron III is the equivalent fluid of MerconIV. Most atf bottles have them listed as "DexronIII/MerconIV". Dexron III goes back to the 1968 Chrysler atf, that came after the old Type A Suffix A fluids. So if you have some, use it. Then after the first of the year or whenever, drive the car...

    1962 300 Sport Coupe - Disk Brake Q

To this orientation, VERY VALID! When new, the brakes on those cars were pretty good. Being able to lock-up the wheels in a panic stop, making the tires the main player in that activity, not the brakes. With the somewhat crude (by modern standards) brake frictions we had back then. AND doing...

    1962 300 Sport Coupe - Disk Brake Q

When I first came to see what "Scarebird" was, I liked it. The fact that most everything could be sourced from auto supply "new" parts, rather than chasing over salvage yards. But as I followed them, I noticed that their equipment items were changing. THEN it occured to me as to why! As...

HELP on 1966 383ci valve cover spreader bars

Those bars are chromed versions of some that were used on Chevrolets in the 1980s or so. --- DO NOT always trust what the seller claims! Once they have your money, it's gone. PLUS . . . on Chevrolets, they looked good but did NOT fix the issue of valve cover oil seeps. The chrome does not...

    1967 Newport

Turbine Bronze with a white vinyl top is how my '67 CE23 is. No cornering lights. Same bucket seat interior (which is the 300 buckets, but with Newport door and dash trim) and buddy seat. Mine is factory a/c, too. Neat to see another Turbine Bronze CE23 with Antique White buckets and buddy...

    Heater core hoses

At to the "50/50" coolant . . . on the cars when they were new, with their original radiators (in our case, the 26" factory a/c radiators), with the radiator cold water flushed (or at least drained completely), it would take 8-9qts to refill the radiator only. As the block had fresh water in...

    1972 Fury Commercial Arthur Godfrey

As much as I liked Arthur Godfrey on game shows, as believable as he was considered to be, I was not impressed with his car commercials. Kind of like when the neighborhood barber replaced Cindy Crawford on the Cadillac Catera commercials . . . Sorry, CBODY67

1968 Chrysler Newport Backup Light Switch

The backup light switch is always a separate bolt-in/plug-in item, back then. On most columns, near the bottom and on the top or near the 10:00am position. With the single-wire neutral safety swith on the side of the transmission. With the later (for that time) 3-prong neutral safety switch...

    Heater core hoses

If the coolant was "mud" brown, rather than "rusty" brown, that might be because somebody added some Dexcool to a non-Dexcool system, as if to top it off and that was all that was available. If it was "rusty" brown, that's another issue. Maintaining the water control valve can be optimal as it...

Problem with '65 Monaco transmission (in Germany) after rebuild - guy looking for help

Does it do this on first start-up or after it has run for a while? Reason I mention this is that a quirk of TFs is that when started cold, the first start of the day, the torque converter has drained-back and needs to get refilled. The fluid flow in "P" is not what it is in "N", so "morning...

    Water Coming out of Tailpipes

Did y'all put a new fuel pump pushrod in with the rebuild? As to the water from the tail pipes? Unless it smells of coolant, it is not. It's usually condensate which collected in the muffler and has to be blown-out by the exhaust flow and heat. OEM Chrysler mufflers, plus many aftermarket...

    Heater core hoses

The correct routing, with arrows for each hose, is in the Chrysler factory service manual. Free download at www.mymopar.com . If you might not find that particular model year of Plymouth in their listings, Chrysler and Dodge vehicles work too. I know that illustration is in the 1966 Chrysler...

1965 New York Brake Booster replacement

Thanks for those pictures! Considering that is the lower-production 6-Window Town Sedan model, it IS definitely worth saving, even with the rust issues. Those cars were beautiful when new . . . and can be again! CBODY67

    Lean Burn Q's

With that clarification of the kit used, just put the initial timing at about 10-12 degrees BTDC ans see how that goes. If it pings on acceleration, back the timing amount down a few degrees until it gets quiet. Did the prior owner also change the carburetor, or modify it? Thanks, CBODY67
