    The rear wheel studs are in the AXLE flange, not in the drums.

    If this is an 8.75 rear end, I would suggest pulling the axle and pressing out the old studs. If you do not want to go to that much trouble, you can drive out the old studs with a brass drift, that drift will keep you from damaging the axle flange. Several manufacturers make a tool to...

    I tried. When I took it apart, it basically fell apart. Mine got fried in the past- the coating melted off and the switches were brittle and busted.
