14 in Tires....

What is the name of these tires? I can only find the H724 tires which are 26.7 OD
Hankook Optimo H724
I sell tires for a living and are available.
They have a 1 inch whitewall but you can mount them black out and has a smooth sidewall no serrated bands.

I refuse to buy tires online.
I won't lower myself to walk in to a tire shop and telling them to install my internet tires.
That's like bringing your own eggs to a restaurant.

Hey Stan Florida must be like Arizona and have "llantera" shops all over. Go there and pay Pedro $8 cash a tire to mount and balance.

I brought a set of the Hankook H724 215/75/14 for 245 dollars and free shipping.
On the 66 300 they do ride nice. Being a tad small, they tend to be jarring over rough surfaces.Otherwise you will be happy with them.

At the time,I went through the same situation as you.
The 66 sat since 1998. In 2013, I had to get tires to pass inspection and get the car on the road.
This year I am getting rid of the single pot master and disc brakes are going on and will require 15 inch to clear the discs.

The 15 inch Redlines will look awesome but as you mentioned, bigger fish to fry at this time.
Do what you have to do to get her safe and reliable and please share any updates.
Cheers

Stan,I go through this occasionally at my work.
People DO bring online tires to us to install.
Majority of my online tire customers are Millennials driving rice rockets with fart cans on them.
As a shop,we do not warranty balancing or defects on online tires.Since we do sell tires we charge MORE to install online tires compared to our own.
If the tires have a defect--or damaged beyond repair and have a warranty with the online seller we again charge to DISMOUNT that tire so the customer can deal with the online Co.

Classic cars I handle differently on an individual basis.

I'm late to the party on this topic.

But FWIW, I have Hankook Mileage Plus II 225/70/14's on two of the Newps.

Bought them about six years ago. I've been pleased with the look and ride.

I just caved and went 15" Magnums and 235/70/15 on the wagon.

235/70/15 on the front and 275/60/15 on the back of the New Yorker with Moon discs.

I'd love to find a set of period disc brake wheel covers for it.

I bought online and saved a bunch of money with free shipping too.
Just like taking my own eggs to the diner and only getting charged for the toast...and I'd do it again

I wish I had that preferred option.
I can balance a tire with a bubble balancer as good as any mechanized hi-tech machine.
But the mounting machine, well that's a little tough on the budget.

I have to differ on this... with a modern Road Force balancer I can make a tire darn near perfect runout then balance it dynamically not just static balance like a bubble balancer. Add in using a ProCut on car brake lathe to trim just a hair off the rotors, but true them to the hub runout and fine tune the alignment... This will make a good car better and you would be amazed at the results... if the guy knows how to use the equipment.
Unfortunately, you're probably going to do just as good with the bubble balancer as the kid does for you with $100k worth of equipment if his motivation is a paycheck instead of quality of work. Flat rate pay scale, need for survival and $10 an hour mean you wont likely benefit from the technology... just another kid trying to make his paycheck on every car. With the way I have seen so many shops treat that equipment... I take it all back... want me to help you find a cheap used tire machine?
