1966 Fury III - Unfinished Project

Slightly Heath-Robinson but it works.

Couldn't gather the enthusiasm to go do the intake manifold gaskets.

Day off today, and in the few hours before the rain, I decided to replace the intake gaskets.

You can see the old ones weren't in very good condition any more. That's where it was leaking.

All cleaned down and new gaskets installed. Much better.

Back together and running, with no leaks. Better. Just in time because it's raining hard now!

Love the paint! Looks to be "Lilac" code '66' ?

I need a little bit of help, please.

Does anybody have a photograph of the structure of the lower corners of the rear window aperture the way it  should be, please?

I'm trying to figure if that's meant to be open as a drain, or if I need to patch it up.

Thank you

Phil

I thought about what I wrote. I went out and poured some water into the corner. Lo and behold it came out from behind the rear wheel.
I see the hole. I'm just not sure if it's meant to be there.

Started on cleaning the rear floors up, to see if they're any good still.
Got this far and my angle grinder died.
It's not so bad which is nice.
I'll get a new angle grinder and continue work.

Started on the corner closest the camera, looks like it had been jacked up wrong and the metal disintegrated.

So first patch of many.

Big windy rain and thunderstorm came through so I figured it was already wet, so washed all the grinding dust out.

The weather dried up so I figured I could put a bit of time in.

Cut some rust out.

Started forming a new section and it started throwing it down with rain again.
End of play today.

I reckon the clouds know when I'm working on the car.

Got as far as stripping the floor under the seat, and it started to rain so I painted over it.
Needs a patch where the seat bolts in.

Ah, bathroom sealant masquerading as metal.
20230511_170248.jpg

That's all pretty nasty looking. Hit it with the grinding wheel.

Well, they had painted over dirt, for one. There's a few holes and a couple thin patches, and I see where the scuttle has been leaking, that needs a repair.

Less bad than I thought.

Phil
