1966 Fury III - Unfinished Project

Welded in place.

Cleaned up with a wire wheel. Discovered some pinholes, filled those in.

Painted over. Then it started to rain heavily, had to run to put the equipment away. Not too bad though. I'll tidy it up tomorrow.

Nice, if not overly warm day today. Decided I should at least try put in a bit of time on the car so made an effort to tackle the driver's side front footwell.
Heated up the screws and removed the plate that covers over the parking brake cable because there's a fair bit of rust down in the corner. Started to wire wheel that away to investigate, and continued up around the repair line.

Ah, the low cholesterol, fat free substitute called I Can't Believe It's Not Metal™. Bathroom silicone blobbed in place and painted over. Nice. Pulled all that out, fought with the stupid design that is the throttle pedal bracket and cleaned up in general.

The overall half-assedness is at least consistent with the rest of the repairs, enough that I think I'll just zip the whole panel out, inspect, clean up, patch and redo properly.

Took the gas pedal off, removed the trim because it was covered in primer, courtesy of whoever did the floor last.

That looks a bit more presentable now.

Cleaned the underside of the driver's side front footwell up.
Makes it easier to see where needs repair.

Though, pray tell, what is the attachment of the gas pedal meant to look like? The rubber on mine has all disintegrated and someone put a hole in the floor with a plasma cutter to make it fit.

I searched my pictures and even though I took many pics of the floor none clearly show it. Here are some pics of what I have. Hopefully this helps. Let me know if you need pics of the pedal I will have to take some.

Repairs marked out. Not, uh, so bad. ...yeah.
It's rusted in really weird places.

Pedal assembly looks like this at the bottom, below the hinge.

That looks correct. It has a raised area to fit over the carpet and underpaid. You just need to locate the pedal in approximately the correct position and put the two bolt holes into the pan. Install the carpet and cut out the area where the pedal goes and consider it done.

Didn't realize the carpet was so thick.

Thank you!

I think I'll make a little indentation to house it then. I don't want the base of it above the carpet, it's ugly.
That would make it like the pedal in the 300; then a slot cut in the carpet with the pedal poking through.
That makes it tidier, given that the rubber has all gone bad on the base of mine and I can hide it that way.
