Filled in a couple gaps.

More to follow.

A hot day, ended with a cold front. Before the rain arrived, I put in a little time while it was cool but not raining.

Beat the shape of the corner of the footrest and welded it to the sheet metal. Dialed the amps up and welded it to the mount.

Cleaned up as the rain began. That called halt to tonight.

Ground some of the welds flush.

Then finished up welding the rest of the holes along the front edge.

Need to grind those down next, make up the left hand side of the pan and the bit to fit the gas pedal to.
Then that's the floor done.

Phil

That's a spiffy looking floor, Phil! I've been watching the UTG videos where Tony shows the length some if these guys go to hide rust damage. I can appreciate your work that much more now!

To hide it is difficult and requires a lot of detail work.

I just don't want this to scream that is been welded of someone pulls the carpet up. There's a good chance that it'll be covered in dynamat or similar anyway so that covers up the fine details.

Sorry, I was referring to the shady flipper guys slapping mud all over frame rails and floors. Just dirty hack job stuff. This, sir, is skill and pride!

Speaking of, a call again for assistance.
As you can see, I need to rebuild my rear quarters.
Can somebody with good quarters take a photo from the side, from the bumper to in front of the rear wheel, so I can get the shape right?

Thanks

Here are some pics of mine. Hopefully this helps. If you need better pics I will take them once I get the car out of the garage. Let me know.

I don't, but the arch profile is still correct. Just from the rear of the arch to the back of the car was judiciously removed by the previous bodywork guy.
Word of caution on the profiles. If you have skirts make sure they fit as you go along or you will be sorry you didn’t. Learnt the hard way.

Time for a change of scenery.
20230728_170513.jpg

Washed a Mickey Mouse Clubhouse and quite a lot of Mississippi out of the frame rails at the back of the car.

Emptied the trunk and took in the scene. Yup. Quite a lot of new metal to go in there. There's also some Bondo over rust and holes to fix.

Phil

Hot day today so only a short bit of work.
20230729_124718.jpg

Today was spent investigating the passenger side rear quarter. There was quite a lot of Bondo.
20230729_125214.jpg

I thought I was going to have to cut the sheet steel off, but no. It pulled off. Superb
20230729_125243.jpg

Thankfully the most complex shape of the rear quarter is still there, so I can copy that for both sides.
20230729_131405.jpg

Made a lot of dust by removing all the Bondo in the area.

The shape of the metal is still good, with a few minor dents and dings. Unbelievable, comical amount of wob stuck to the car for absolutely no reason.
