Baby Moons and avoid all the confusion and debate.
Stan .. Chris solved it for me man. I am "pimpin' my Newp" :)

seriously .. people with knowledge and passion about a thing gotta express themselves. this forum is full of those extended discussions.

some of us may think "they've gone into the weeds". maybe so, but I happen to have learned a TON of fascinating stuff I never knew about something as "pedestrian" as wheel covers in 1966.

on this project, it valuable info to me

That would certainly make life simpler. I installed baby moons on my parent's 1978 Impala wagon in the mid eighties to replace the boring stock covers, and to separate it from the other million or so light blue metallic Impala wagons that were everywhere at the time.

I absolutely love all the Mopar deep dishes from '66 to '68, so it's worth it to me to do whatever it takes to get them onto a car. The big problem now for me is the discontinued P225/75-R14 tires. I a have two sets of Coopers left and they are pretty old now. I'd only drive on them for very short trips. Many people are substituting Hankook Optimo 215/75-R14's, but they just look too small to me. Diamondback has a H78-14 radial that they came out with recently, but I don't care for the design of the tire. It looks more like something from Europe in the early 70's. I think their intention may have been to make it look like the early Michelin tires of that era, but I think they missed the mark a bit. They are also about $250 per tire and made offshore. Coker has a 235/75-R14 in their American Classic series, but it's a wide white and it's another expensive tire that I'm not at all impressed with the design.

Actually, once I figure out my 14 to 15 inch rim adapter, this will kind of be a moot point for me anyway. Then I'll be able to use an M body 15x7 rim and much more affordable P225/70-R15 tire on all my slabs.

Anyway though, I'm still curious about the special rims that Leaburn has and would like to figure out what the deal is with them.

Nothing wrong with going off into the weeds from time to time.

As long as it doesn't reach the point where we're fretting over date codes and paint daubs.

Then it would be time to take a step back and try to reconnect with reality.

This 1966 Newport was here a while back. A member did yeoman's work and helped me make the connection so now its home.

Real nice car, 383 car, low optioned, and needs a few things, pretty clean and highly original. I will post how it turns out. I have no plans except make it a mechanically reliable, real cool DD.

photos below are between 2 and 6 montha old. seller has high integrity, and car looks exactly like these photos, though of course hard to tell how nice it really is sittin' on the truck today.

That is a really nice car. I find it is highly optioned though. PS PB automatic, day nite mirror. Clock, radio, upgraded interior, fender turn signals, map lite, prob the glovebox lite? It did not get the bumper and window reveal mouldings. The wheel covers are NY or your car is Canadian. The std covers are quite ugly. Dog dishes would be std in the US.
Ask me how I know. ...

Correction - you do have the standard interior for the 4 dr sedan.
