so today i used some duplicolor fabric spray dye bomb on the headliner

and spray bombed the edge trims

no more red interior

I tried Velcro. It's OK until you try to remove the panel. The adhedsive will fail before the Velcro lets go. Go straight to the snaps........

this pic sorta sucks

but 2 panels / a side of panel are on
and they actually fit. completely amazing. i did have to cut another 1/8" around the door handle knockout to allow the mechanism more room to travel the cutout was too exact.
i used generic 9/16" felt lined door lock ferrules off fleabay.

@clair let me know when you start in on them! we have a guy out on the east side named mando that needs some also.

there are some things id do differently for sure, going a 2nd time around. id for sure use a different foam, dense foam was a bad choice. drilling holes for the door clips was unnecessary. etc.

also - im really wanting to try fiberglass after watching that video that was posted here the other day... one of those fiberglass dudes is up in lewisville i saw a 972 # on their video... southwest customs.

those are pretty pricy for you still having to finish them out. its like $500 for those panels, and you have to fit them still. how you gonna hang those prefab panels onto the metal piece that rides on top of the doorframe? how you cut to fit without messing up the finish edge? i dunno.

the local shop wanted $250 x4 doors = $1000 bucks.


im in for about $225 or so, not much more, all done hanging in the car.

for the small amount of cash i had to spend, im happy with the return.

Those are just sown upholstery panels. You would glue them to your boards just the way you glued your vinyl to your boards.

Yep, not cheap... but they are made to order. I've bought stuff from them and it's first class. But it's just another option and if you're like me, I like to see what is out there. They also sell a vinyl that has the pleats heat formed already too.
