I'll take....." why the 300 won't start for $ 1200 alex.....

Well it's not the bypass wire on start, that is confirmed. Damn it. But I now have a flat battery, I guess we all have to wait till tomorrow now when it is charged for further news.

If you have spark and fuel, it should start or least backfire or burn in exhaust etc... Even on Roadkill they got spark and pour fuel into intake manifold without carburetor it starts.....
Im afraid of compression.... bend valves etc...

I cant imagine there are bent valves in very cylinder, I am getting compression.

Okay in between thunderstorms i ran down and cranked that MFer over and turned the distributor slowly as I could smell gas in the carb, nothing nada zilch.
Okay this is nuts, I don't want to pull the timing case cover off just yet and I still feel this is electric. Who has a tool to check the amount of spark at the end of the plug wire? Bob?? And no, running a wire direct from the battery to the coil didn't do anything either.

I'm betting on a bad coil. I hate coils. Sunzabitches. . .

Agreed. Coil. OR, your coil is getting grounded. My money is on the coil, if not bad, then grounded.

Are you absolutely, positively, without a doubt you wired the the new electronic ignition properly. Would you stake your life on it??? :p

You have (had) spark to the plugs....2 different coils?
You have (had) fuel at the carb and
You used starting fluid?
You checked the distributor for proper orientation and rotation?
Get the wrenches out and start draining the coolant!! I believe its gotta be mechanical.....
