1969 Imperial progress thread

If you're planning a rebuild soon I wouldn't worry about it and when I say soon I mean in the next couple of years. For cars that are only driven occasionally its really nothing you need to worry about. I'd worry more about using some kind of oil that still has zinc in it.

Thank you guys! I hope the engine is fine and will start right up after the tune up. I'm planing to rebuild the engine, but not in the next few years.

Hm, oil with zinc.

Which oil would you recomment? (I hope I can get it in germany...)

The "Moparshop" over here offeres "Motul Classic Oil 20W50"

Everyone says Brad Penn oil is the best that I've heard. I'm with Matt otherwise and lead additive definitely wouldn't hurt. The valve seats are probably hardened already from being slammed a bazillion times by the valves. Have hardened seats put it when you rebuild it.

I will better use the additive then!

No Brad Penn oil in Germany :( Which viscosity should I use with the modern oils? According to the FSM, it's 10W-30, it this still right? Because the Motul oil is 20W-50!?

Nice. Your really going to be unique amongst all those little eco cars puttering along. Its a cool feeling to say the least.

Thanks guys! Here comes the whole day:

I was at work this morning, never heard anything from the trucker, then he called at 9am to tell me he will be at my shop at 10am. Thank god, my boss is a great guy and gave me a day off today! The truck arrived quarter past 10. He unloaded the car directly to the street (a hill road) and the breaks did not work... The transmission had to compensate that problem, not good for the transmission, I know, but better then running down the hill and crashing into another car to stop. Next, I parked the car in front of my shop, because the sun was shining.

But it started to rain just a few minutes later, so I pulled it into my shop...

I immediately found new friends!

And also some damages that happened during shipping...

I immediately started the work: I disassambled the rear armrests in order to pull the backseat out.

And found a buildsheet :)

After that, I cleaned up the trunk and pulled out all rotten cardboard covers on the sides...

I found a big package of electronics wrapped in a whole roll of duct tape and rag on the left side of the trunk behind the sidecover:

Does anyone know what this is?

And finally, the package from Summit was still in the trunk!

AAND one another gorgeous found! I found a set of keys in a gap behind the plastic panel of the drivers seat!

Leavenworth Garage, Old Chatham NY. It's the same name on the last registrations I have.

That is one clean buildsheet!

I doubt the tape was original but the harnesses look to have Mopar numbers on them.
Where do the wires go?

Alan

Glad you finally got it to it's new home. I wonder how many people driving behind the truck said what the hell is that?
