1969 Imperial progress thread

Congratulations and thankfully the long wait has come to and end and the next chapter started immediately, thanks to your boss and your determination! Cool find on the BS!

I'm really excited for what comes next, but I have to admit that I'm a little bit scared of what comes next. ;)

Scared but unbelievably happy :D

Dude......... We are all extremely happy for you. Glad to see the work started already, wasting no time I see. Whats the time frame before she hits the streets...?

Love the keys

Glad it made it there relatively quickly, at least compared with some cars I have sent to Finland in the past. That clump of wires and electrical devices wrapped in duct tape are the sequential turn signal controls. They look like a lot of fun, and I will have to tackle that myself in the near future. There is another much shorter thread regarding a 69 Imperial on this site recently, and it includes a couple short videos with some of those devices in action.

Congratulations!

Congratulations on (finally) receiving your car! I have been following this thread and it has been a roller coaster throughout. You have a lot more patience than I do... Can't wait to see what you do with it!!

Vodka, I totally can feel your exuberance here 5,000 miles away. I can't congratulate you enough. May I live long enough to see that magnificent beast returned to its original glory.

Your avatar is terrible.

congratulations Julian.
Hope you will enjoy the restoration.

It sucks that it got damaged now on the truck while it seems to have made the ocean freight trip pretty well.

I would start with a good clean up. Just for the nose

@Stan: what does your avatar mean? Are you red like a commie ;-)))

I don't really have a time frame but I will drive it asap! It will take years because I don't have too much time and money... But I will do it step by step until it's done. I will do as much as I can by myself.

First, as Carsten mentioned, I will clean the whole car just to not get sick because of all the mold and dead rodents inside... After that, I will clean up and tune up the engine and hope it will start right up with no issues..! The breaks are not working, so I have to rebuild the whole brakesircle...

But when all these things are done I will try to register the car to make it a rolling restauration.

Ah, thanks! Good to know these are the sequential turn signal controls! I know about the other thread, I was the one that posted the videos ;) But I thought the relais were right next to the lights!

Only outward ;) I freaked out every time I received bad news. :p

I hope it will not take forever! I guarantee you will see it driving! ;)

Home at last! Congrats Julian!!! I'm very happy for you. Bummer about the damage but I know it could have been worse. I'd remove everything from the interior except the dash and depending on its condition, the headliner, unless you're planning on replacing it anyways. In other words, if it is smelly and tattered remove it now. Looks like you've already done this in the trunk. Mask off with plastic anything you don't want totally drenched and go to town with cleaning agents and a power washer, front to back, top to bottom. Get a look inside the gas tank and determine the condition of all fuel lines. Start on the checklist of things you need to do to get an engine of unknown condition to run.
the keys are a great find, I know you were worried about that.
congrats again, you are officially in over your head just like the rest of us!:yaayy:

If you want to send me a copy of the build sheet I can decode it for you.

No witty comeback?
Guessed I pissed Ross off.
Again.....
