1969 Imperial progress thread

Vodka, with all the work that the small window and plug is going to involve, you do not think a large window/no vinyl would be better??

It's harderfor me to get a big rear window the interior parts around the window and another dome light I guess.

Hello! Sometimes you got to break a few eggs to make an Omelet! Dremel Tool with the small Burr.

I tried to reach the screws from the underside with a cutting wheel, but it's too tight to reach them. I will try a hand metal saw, but I'm not sure if I have the room for it either

Will a compact air chisel get in there?

Hello!I'm restoring a 1968 Polara Coupe. You've got yourself a real jewel there! Show her some love and make her happy again! I love projects like this, where everything is already there. All you've got to do freshen things up a bit. The task will seem daunting at times but every time you take a rusty, dirty, oily, broken part and recondition it and place it back on the car that's when the "Christine" Magic starts to happen! Good luck!

Thank you! It's a lot of fun to restore every single part but the other side is a lot of frustrarion when I find broken parts or unexpected damages... But until now, I don't regret the decidion to restore this besutiful old lady!

I have the option to get electric door lock motors. That else would I need to retrofit this system?

I have done this to my '69 Coupe and interestingly the car was prewired for power door locks. I installed the motors and got the proper switch bank for both sides. I can't remember if there was a relay or not, but at least the wiring was all there. Check your harness to see if yours isn't the same.

Miscommunication due to language differences.
In English grammar, that reads as,
BUT, until now, I have no regrets.

It sounded like you had no regrets, up to until now.

Ok, got it. No. I do not regret restoring this beautiful old lady at all!

I will check my wiring harness, but according to the FSM, I will need two relais. Does anyone ever retrofit a modern after market power door lock system?

Yes, I did my 300 with a Spal kit. http://www.spal.com/spal_accessories/eng/products/door_locking.html

It was an easy install. I even used the factory bolt holes in the door. The hardest part was getting the new wire through the existing harness, but that wasn't a real big deal.

When I was researching doing this myself, the Spal name keep coming up as the product to buy and the other ting was to not buy anything from Autoloc.

I then hooked the door locks into a keyless entry alarm system. An 80's vintage electric trunk lock is hooked up too so I can use the key fob to open the door locks or the trunk.

But... If you want, I have a set of door lock relays I took out of a derbied Imperial that I can part with.

Can you get at the underside of the bolts enough to get a pair of vise grips on and loosen them from underneath?
