1969 Imperial progress thread

Hey Julian! How have you been. How's the car coming along.

Hey Dan, she's coming along pretty good lately. The body shell is completely stripped now. I found more rust holes here and there but less then feared.

I'm still happy with my purchise. ;)

Here are a few pics of the latest pregress:

The alreday removed the drivers door also. It's a real pita to remove the door glas! It took me an hour to get it out of the door...
Next will be to put a layer of epoxy primer on it to pretect it from rusting again.

My gawd, you are thorough. Early on I had no idea that this was going to be a total nutss and bolts resto. For the zillionth time, we'll done, Sir!
PS, I would still like to see you go vinyless on the roof though... :D

And that's still the plan, Sir! I like the vinylless look better, but I'm still searching for detailed photos of a '69 Crown interior rear window surrounding and dome light to duplicate them myself. I'm pretty sure the window is the same like the Chrysler models.

WOW !!! THESE FOREIGNERS SURE LOVE AMERICAN IRON.. GOD BLESS THE OLD RED WHITE AND BLUE !!! I WOULDNT MIND DROPPING ONE OF THESE BIG OL C OR Y BODIES FILLED WITH URANIUM OVER IRAN ... NOW THAT WOULD BE A DEMOLITION DERBY WORTH LOSIN AN OLD Y FRAMER TO !!!!!! :plane: :sFl_america2:

Should have bought a Crown, then.

Does any one on this sight own a 69 or 70 crown 2 door... talk about needles in haystacks,, I'd love to see some pis of 69 or 70 crown,,, even a 4 door hardtop or the 69 4 door sedan for that matter... and not that rusted out brown 69 sedan in minnesotta,,, seen that one so many times.. I count in my eBay sleep lol

I was not that picky after 18 month of searching for a proper base for my project. And apart of this, it's easier to remove the vinyl roof then finding a good set of bucket seat i guess.

I have a few pics of 1969 Crown Imperials in my Dropbox. But unfortunately no pictures of the interior.

I looked at a `70 crown in Hamilton a couple of years ago but it was to far gone for me.I have one back window shot from the inside but I don`t think it will help. You will need the moulding if you go that route. Yes they are a needle in a haystack,244 in `69 and 254 in `70PICT0021[1].jpgPICT0017[1].jpg

Thanks for the pictures, but I need more detailed pictures of the interior surrounding of the window. This one is even missing this piece.
This particular one once was a vinyl roof car. The vinylless ones doesn't have the vinyl roof moldings!

Any Chrysler 300 Hardtop interior of that model year for example will have the same parts I guess.

wow !! thanks for the pics... i love them both.. the 69 and the 70... its so cool.. how from 69-70... they are both completely different looking cars... always wanted any model.. from 69-71..
