I like the white, definitely better than green.
I like the orig. white as well, and the fact that it's quite straight, shiny and essentially bondo and rust free, apparently unlike so many other c bodies out there. Time will tell, and fortunately the garage is a large one.

I passed on it at 6K from the previous owner and it had sat for sale for a while at that point. I think it has the right options (440, superlite, etc) but THE biggest thing holding this car back IMHO is it is just too plain in white. If you sit and look at it nothing gets you excited when the hood is shut.
...interesting you mention lack of visual excitement. I've always been a fan of 63-65 Rivieras, considered objectively attractive, and I see those lines in the Monaco's rear wheel arches, as well as B body Mopar lines in the rear quarters. As I'm sure many of you do, I find myself staring at the car a lot. Putting visuals aside, for more visceral excitement just hop in, turn the key, and have fun with the 350-horse 440/727/SG 8.75 rear!!

I guess maybe I am having a hard time seeing past a car that is bought by someone. Relisted for almost double the price it was. Then that person joins this site and starts trying to sell it and call it the cat's meow of C bodies.

If it is a great car and you are endeared with it why are you flipping it?

Sorry for my soapbox here but this whole thread just kind of rubs me the wrong way. I thought we were a site who did not like flippers or derby guys and loved the cars.

Just my humble opinion.

I'm glad you've admitted how you feel, as it was apparent in your posts, making sure to tell at what # you "passed" on the car. Fortunately you've made it real clear that the body color alone is/was a deal-breaker for you, otherwise your posts could be misinterpreted as an accurate assessment of the car's current value. On the other hand, you were interested enough to inquire about the car with the PO, no? Read the thread, others have indicated positives vibes with the car, and I've thanked them. I suspected I got a very rare car in good shape, at a good price, and the comments here seem to confirm it. As I've said, there's a good chance I will have this car awhile which was my intention at purchase. And since you implied I've done nothing to add value, I've spent time and money either cleaning, fixing, researching, sorting and/or repairing various things, including the exhaust and power steering components. Lastly, I'm the one who "pulled the trigger" on a car that had a potentially dubious history (2 POs that for some reason really didn't drive it), and yes, it'd be nice to be compensated for my efforts and risk. Whether that happens or not is the risk that I took. But I know, that darn white is just too much...

Let me put it this way, if it were a 71 Polara, regardless of the white, you wouldn't have had a chance to own it.. it would have been here.

You' ll have to wait for that right buyer who's gotta have it

feeling like a leper here....don't like white.....bah humbug....a pox on ya'll...nice car btw....

I personally prefer Monacos to the Polaras, but of course love them both. If I didn't already have one, I would have been considering it.

I had a white 70 300 with a green top/interior, and thought it looked striking. Before I saw it in the flesh though, I wouldn't have thought I would end up liking it so much.

Thank you!

Thank you!

Besides that my main issue is that I don't like buying a car from someone where said person says they did a lot of various things to the car and is entitled to get a return and then some on their work. First, these cars are money pits which don't recoup you dollar for dollar put in. Second, I much prefer getting the car before those various things are done so that I can do those various things. That way I can get the enjoyment that I get out of doing them and I can be sure they are done to near perfection as is my habits. Unlike some I don't care for turn key and then have someone come up and say nice car. I rather have done all the work so that when that person comes up I can say with an honest face, thank you.

I think the price for the Monaco is ok.
I am not fancy on the colour combo and it is a reason not to buy it for me.
People who buy a car and then try to sell it again within a few weeks are always suspicious to me. First thought is: There is something unexpected wrong with the car.

Despite from that it might be solid for a rustbelt car but I am sure there is not only rust in the trunk. The paint bubbles indicate there is rust in the quarters, rockers and front fenders, too. On the positive site the seller is showing them in the pictures he posted (link on first site of the thread). Many people fail in supplying good pictures.

Really. I grade the car between #3- to 4+ since there is rust showing. A #3 car should show no visible rust anywhere. Since I am not beholden to any one make of car I have nothing to gain or lose. Every particular car brand has loyal followers who can get blinded to true street value. My Cougar club has some of them. So my street price out here would be $4500 max. A Dodge fan might buy it but then again someone else would probably get to it first and then... well you know the story.

Funny in that my first thought is a flip. Same as a real estate broker buying a house for $400K quickly and then one month later selling it for $500K. That is a flip. Considering that I smell a world wide economic slowdown in the offing those things will be minimized.

This is where i could not take it anymore. Anyone that compares a monaco to a 65 rivieras is on the WRONG site. I am a polara fusie guy and this was just too much for me. The long winded flipper verbage on the posts was too much too. I think alot of us on here are feeling the same way on this post and just were polite enough to not say anything. Any way to delete or lock this thread??

Seve, you never cease to amaze with your collection of C bodies!

I hear what 69vert500 is saying, but I don't see a problem with what 70monaco440 is doing. He has a car on the For Sale forum, he has posted tons of info and pics, it does not seem to be misrepresented, and he didn't join first touting his love for the car and Mopars. He came to sell, and he dropped the price twice! Yes, white is the biggest problem the car seems to have, and yes this thread is getting a bunch of activity, don't we want this one to be saved and find a permanent home? The price is right, just need the right owner.
