So if one or more of these cash cows shows up at a national mopar car show in a "restored" state, what would be the implications of such an event? Would most assume each of the cars was rebodied, or underwent an extensive rust repair effort to maintain the original car, and would there really be any way to tell either way or would anyone really care? And then if the original engine is well known not to be available for any of them as I recall, then what is the car worth really? Or would the crowd just be glad they survived regardless of how it was done? Just trying to wrap my head around the thoughts of someone who put up the money to buy one of these?

I think if you got the money to buy it and spend 40K restoring it say, then heck, the final value is not what you are in it for anyway huh? All i can think is, you gotta have a real passion at preserving a little known piece of history.

Because of the drama Dan has put behind them people will notice.

Pricing them at 60k and waiting 7 years to drop them to 10k was pure genius... He sold them still over priced and everyone knows the cars.

To me, without the car being complete... The value isn't there

good question and difficult to answer.
I think there are different preferences.

Personally I could live without the matching engine.
To me the documentation is important (Fender Tag/Broadcastsheet)
I think the yellow one could be rebuilt without a rebody even though it takes a lot of sheetmetal work
It would be important to document the bodywork with pics to show it is not a rebody.

I think any v-code Fury would draw lots of interest at shows because afaik none of them is currently known being on the road.

Value of a done car, even though it was very rusty and is non matching? Difficult

Here are some pics of the yellow one in case someone wants to know which car we are talking about:

Original trans, all the paper work, it didn't look as bad off as the black one. I see no reason for a re-body. All you need is a date code correct motor and a fender tag, but how hard is that to have re-created? If someone had the parts, space and time, 10k was not out of this world, especially for a shop than may be used to large resto jobs. I think someone had been watching for a long time until the right moment. It would be interesting when and if they come forward.

I think if someone wanted it for personal reasons to put back together would be cool. But I just can't see anyone buying this without the original drivetrain and the fender tag and thinking you're going to make a profit on it. You can build a clone for half the cost with a decent rust free body and maybe make a profit or break even.

I tend to agree, regarding the profit margin, but as stated earlier, these have been hyped up for so long everyone know about them. If one or both end up on Barret Jackson as "rotisserie resto, date code correct" (insert any other buzz words here), there could be stupid money involved. It's all in the marketing.

Then again, there's still this one:

I appreciate the comments on my question - there are certainly many perspectives.

On the remaining green car, I was wondering why the engine isn't orange since the 440HP was standard in 1971, or was that not the case somehow on Canadian cars or early build cars?

the 71s are usually U-codes (440HP) but not the Promo cars.
Dan owns the green one and a golden, both are SFGTs but do have T-Code engines.
Due to that they are blue

I'd rather have a V code 4 door fury! It is a cool car. Just not $10K cool.

their mopar orange..mine is

The car has the buildsheet, 2 actually. With that it has all the info on it to make a new tag. No big deal. As long as you get correctly dated parts the restored will be a success. This car is 1 of 12. Less then half left. Or unfound yet. The opening bid was 9,999 but if you read the ad, it said make an offer. Where else can you get any 6 pack car for less then 10 grand??? Nowhere. Cut the guy some slack. Its a fair price. As all of you know, a solid rust free parts car can be bought for peanuts. So the big money stuff would just be the 6 pack set up......that's not the end of the world either. Everybody bashes other peoples stuff ( and people) on here..... Its sad. If its to much for you, move on. Don't hate. Continue driving your late 70's barges and be happy. The drama is on this site way before and after these poor 6 pack cars were advertised.

You're showing your ignorance. These cars were drama before this site existed.

Rust free parts cars aren't falling out of the sky. If they were rust free they wouldn't be parts cars..

No one is cutting Dan slack. He is the first to piss on the value of someone else's CL ad and devalue their treasure. He's a big boy, he created the drama and handles both sides very well.
