1978 NYB, 392 MILES,For the sceptics.

Nahhhh disconnecting it would be more fun. That way no one could ever tell. Once rolled over they just not quite as nice.

This car was poorly stored in a damp climate, my guess! The drivers seat is the first thing cosmetically I look at and it looks good but the rest of the car....No way....$5500 tops!

Despite the colors and whatever history dad's has do you really think only a grand more +/- ? This one appears to be nicer....by a bit
No it's not... needs a vinyl top, headliner and a few interior touch ups
Here's the thing... 74 has a fabric headliner, PITA maybe, but very replaceable. After that they went to the formed headliners, zero replacement possibilities and just as much, if not more of a PITA to repair... especially with that St Regis roof treatment.

You can't take colors out of the equation. IDK the history on your dad's car, but he paid for that color, it should be factored in. The gray car has some nice parts, like the steering wheel, but its just a matter of time and exposure for that... might even have spiderweb cracks already that we haven't checked enough to see. I didn't care enough to go check out the car, I'm good with pictures for as much as I'm concerned.
I agree $8k is tops for current condition. He is presenting it as a pristine original 400 mile car thinking he was going to get $25k-$50k.

If he corrected the battery situation, put a New Yorker hood ornament on it, correct the paint damage on the left side, put the right stripes on it he could get $10k or a little more for it.

To me the biggest problem is that wasn't stored in a climate controlled environment. I see the surface rust in all the trouble area's on a Formal and it's going to eventually destroy the car. I bet there is considerable rust under the rockers right now after seeing the rust under the hood and undercarriage. Once that becomes a giant problem you will start to see the bubbling and rust under the vinyl.

I don't remember.....do the wipers work on this car?
The wipers are a matter of time and use, we know that bushing is ready. I don't care enough to look back, but if those tires are old, they'll need replaced.

This from a Formal lover who isn't as cheap as me, get my point? The features of this car may equal a faster sale, but are unlikely to increase value by much.

without seeing it in person...the pics posted show that it is a low mileage car that has had poor storage. Improper storage has ruined many a nice low mileage car including this one. Too bad

There are some clues in the pictures that do prove it is a low mileage poorly stored car. Not my place to teach you

The sagging headliner is very normal in any mileage car of this age, if you have been around the cars at all this would be common knowledge but most of you act like spoiled kindergarten kids instead of grown men. Even if it was a pristine less than 1000 mile car some one would find something to whine about instead of appreciating the uniqueness of the barge

I'm not concerned with the mileage, only the value discussion. I don't see the reason behind the price and, so far, nobody else has either.

The person who buys her is welcome to tell me all about her value and, if so inclined, what they paid. I'd bet it'll be a while though.

I understand the color factors in Jeff but to what %?

Things like the steering wheel and wipers likely won't be a problem in our lifetime . Anyone buying this car or one like it will keep the car garaged and see very minimal precipitation .

I don't see a twenty five thousand dollar car. I do see a very original low mileage car that needs a bit of touch up without ruining originality.

You do know the story of Michels car when for sale? It started at two hundred thousand and two years later sold for less than 5% of asking.

You are probably the guy that should have spoke to the seller to find the answer.

There you go again. . .

Are Stubbs and USSMOPAR one in the same? Inquiring minds want to know.
