1978 NYB New Engine.....

I did get a few things done this weekend. Put the brake booster/ vacuum canister back together and it seems to be working for now. I'll have to drive it a little to see if it has adequate vacuum and braking action.

Im still messing with the A/C fab and assembly. Maybe next week's project.

What's the holdup with the A/C installation, Bob.
The compressor is down by the oil pan now.

Compressor location really isn't the big problem. Compressor is on top right side. There is a 2 pipe manifold that mounts to the Sanden compressor. The problem has been to find the right fittings to convert the original hoses from H-block to the manifold plus I have to add a low pressure and a high pressure port to each side so I can vac, charge, and check Freon pressures. I have the low pressure side done. I still have to figure out the high pressure side. I've wasted hundreds of dollars on fittings so far and I think I have it figured out now. I'm also trying to utilize the old school technology and fittings and connections to the H-block adding the charging ports and utilizing EZ clip mounts and fitting to the manifold and Sanden compressor. Even C-body manual A/C conversion to a Sanden compressor can be a ***** to fab and hold pressure. And to top it off....i haven't vac'd it down yet to check for leaks either.

I'm really confused.
Why was my conversion such a pc. of cake as far as the plumbing is concerned??? You're certainly not stupider. Am I missing something?

My serpentine system came with a Sanden compressor and that was it. No hoses, fittings, nothing. So I have to find the right fittings to convert the stock hoses to fit the manifold on the compressor and i had to fab in the low and high pressure charging ports. The manifold to the compressor just has 2 bare pipes so I have to fabricate the hose ends with the EZ clip system fittings so that they will hold pressure and not leak. Plus i have to covert from the factory hose sizes to 10 AN and 8 AN on the compressor. I'll take pictures when I'm done and then it will make sense to you.

Thanks, I now see what you are doing. I think....
Yes, pics will definitely help.

I also finished installing the 2 piece hood pad. Needed two sets of clips to mount it. The clips come in quantity of 22. Didn't realize that it needed about 32 clips in total.

I can't believe the damn front door window motors don't work again. A bunch of problems starting with the master window switch melting. I should of smelled something as bad as it melted. But several decades of inhaling burnt cordite has my sense of smell and taste all messed up. Driver door motor won't work at all and the passenger door motor will go down but not up. Lucky I have spare window switches and door motors. Well, I have both windows up for now and I'll fix this problem another day. It's been a long weekend.

Maybe it's just me.....

But I would recommend cycling the windows up and down on Formal's a couple of times every month.

Mine worked fine 6 months ago. Didn't cycle them up or down since then and now 2 out 4 don't damn work!

And pics of that will be appreciated. And a review. :)

I will. I was just up in Cecil County and forgot to take pictures.

The hood pads fit very well and the clips are factory exact reproductions. You can get the clips from several places. I did get a set from Jegs and Van's. Pictures in a couple of weeks.

I may have asked previously on some other thread possibly.......cant find it.

I have some black mold on the new vinyl.

What cleaner can I use to remove the mold and what power swirling device can I use besides my manual arm and shoulder muscles.

Had some time today and the weather was nice so I worked on the car today (and the Ram).

Good news is that I finished the A/C and charged it up. Works great.

Bad news..... I left my dang phone at home on the charger so I don't have any pictures yet.

I have cataract surgery Friday on tbe first eye.So we'll see how the recovery goes and maybe I will have some sort of pictures this weekend or for sure next weekend.

Cataract surgery was a sucess today.

Ready for pirate training! LOL!

The NYB will have to take a break.

Glad to see it went well... I had mine done many years ago.. First thing I noticed was all the little scratches and stuff in the finish on my car. I hadn't seen them before the surgery...
