1978 NYB Preservation Project....Sort of

What a load of Horseshit. Least whenever this gets All Straightened out, That Blue Vinyl top will look Beautiful.

I understand how furious you are + you have time constraints as you want to get your car ready for Carlisle. This was an extensive project. Setbacks are to be expected when you undertake something like this, especially with an older vehicle. All the major surgery was already performed with success and you're at 95% completion. You will get this issue resolved.

I wonder what happened? The top is not even close, especially on the sides. Looked like a whole lot of excess material.

I wouldn't be surprised if they didn't want that one back... then you will be all set to do your P/U to match... :poke:

Seriously... I am really pissed all the way down here... you had everything clicking along so well and even paid for fast shipping... Sorry Bob.

But hey!! The boys are right though!! She's gonna look AMAZING when she done.. Hang in there.. Still got time before Carlisle.

Looks like it could of been cut for a 2 door...

But the vinyl that goes around the the bottom half of the rear window is completely missing.

I was hoping to have been driving the NYB yesterday.

I knew something was wrong when I got th phone call so soon. Oh well, I just hope they have more vinyl material.

Just thinking out loud in case they don't have enough blue vinyl....They did say that they had to check if they had enough blue vinyl on hand when I ordered the top.

What do you guys think bout it being a black vinyl top? It did look pretty good in black.

I hope they have more blue, that's the right color for that car. If anything I'd go with a dark blue rather than black if you have to change color.

It looked dark blue before

That was some aftermarket homemade body shop creation and it was definitely black with one seam sewn together in the middle of the top instead of having two folded seams.

I'll have to wait until they contact me to find out what color material that they have on hand. I have the 78 Chrysler Paint and Trim Book. There was only one blue vinyl color for 1978 and that is the color V1B that you see in the picture. The only other color that was available on B3 cars was V1W white. I've seen 76-77 NYB's with a darker blue which I think would look great as well as black would look great too. I'm undecided at this point. What do you guys think?

I would try to get the correct blue, but if that's not an option, do what makes you happy! It's your car.

I'll bet that vinyl was cut for 68-70 Charger. That would explain the excess for the C pillar and none for under the rear window.

Dark blue would look good and you know what black looks like on it. I'd stay away from white. It wouldn't look good (my opinion) and white vinyl tops are a ***** to keep looking nice.
