1978 NYB Preservation Project....Sort of

I'll bet that vinyl was cut for 68-70 Charger. That would explain the excess for the C pillar and none for under the rear window.

Dark blue would look good and you know what black looks like on it. I'd stay away from white. It wouldn't look good (my opinion) and white vinyl tops are a ***** to keep looking nice.

You're absolutely right! It does look like it was cut for Charger. Thanks!

Too bad. I still wish my rarely farmed out work would be so painless as this Project.

Easiest solution in your case : Go buy a blue Charger. :D

I'm checking Craigslist as we speak....LOL!

I don't think white would look bad... but you wanted blue, they better be able to find you blue or hopefully someone else can...

I hope not....

Getting to the finish line and then this happens.

Probably low probability but it's worth asking them. If so and Mr Charger is from your neck of the woods maybe you could meet and swap and thus get the one for your car quicker than waiting for them to make another assuming they have enough materiel

I hope somehow it works out with you having to wait a long time again

Maybe I'm wrong......

But I don't ever remember seeing a 68-70 Charger with a blue vinyl top.

Just thinking out loud in case they don't have enough blue vinyl....They did say that they had to check if they had enough blue vinyl on hand when I ordered the top.

What do you guys think bout it being a black vinyl top? It did look pretty good in black.

Hang in there! Wait for blue...stick to your guns. You won't regret it !

Ed is a Mopar guy...there's a reason for it I'm sure, we should ask in his introductory thread

Absolutely! How pathetic the Mopar hobby is when they will nitpick factory markings and codes on muscle car crap, but they don't even know what a C body is!

I'll never forget winning the "second place" trophy for C body stock with my 77 T&C. I "lost" to a 62 Chrysler 300 4 dr!

If Carlisle can't get it right...ah forget it. Right now I'm GLAD I'm not going...

Absolutely agree 100%. All the muscle car crap makes me
SSSSSSSSSSSSSICK and not want to attend car shows.

Am I glad I'm not going either!

I'll have to wait until they contact me to find out what color material that they have on hand. I have the 78 Chrysler Paint and Trim Book. There was only one blue vinyl color for 1978 and that is the color V1B that you see in the picture. The only other color that was available on B3 cars was V1W white. I've seen 76-77 NYB's with a darker blue which I think would look great as well as black would look great too. I'm undecided at this point. What do you guys think?

My 2 cents.. I know you want her ready for Carlisle. But! Don't rush something that you'll be stuck with FOREVER.. Unless ALL your options have been exhausted. Look for other companies that may have the material you NEED.. If there are NO other options, than make the call. I say If the top is painted, then have the molding put on and bring her to Carlisle..

The white top on my Imp looks great and is not hard to keep clean at all. If it were mine and the correct blue wasn't available I'd go for the white.

Well......

They didn't call me even after receiving my email with pictures. I had to call them. They said the pattern number was transposed or some B.S.! They didn't seem apologetic what so ever. Said they would get back to me with an ETA date phone call for the right top. That was 4 hours ago. I am not happy!
