I seriously doubt that I'll ever buy something from them again!
 
I've always heard bad things about SMS...never a good customer response

That is exactly what I hear from the Upholsters also. They are one of few that offer this and that is the problem. If the paint quality is nice I would go without it for now, see if it grows on you and have it put on if you change your mind. It is definatly easier to maintain.
 
Well looky what pulled up last night!

Spotless Michigan car bought new in Flint! It currently has 82K on the clock and has the 400 c.i..
Everything works except the wipers....
Bob did you have one of those wiper parts milled out of aluminum or am I imagining that?

No, Took donor parts from 74-77 NYB and cut and welded it together to use the small cam setup. Have to do the same thing to the linkage rod end that goes from the wiper transmission to the wiper motor.

It's hard to believe it's a Michigan car from that era and it doesn't have a spot of rust. Even the vinyl top has nary a bump under it!
 
I'd call the other sources, check availability, and if someone else has it call back SMS and demand a refund.
 
Original Auto Interiors said they can have one made for me in 2 weeks. They have the right color and pattern too. I'm calling SMS for the last time today...

Obviously not driven in the winter and parked in a very dry garage all its life. Dealer emblem on the back is from a dealer in Flint.
 
This person Leslie just now returned my call at 8:45 PM EST. Not apologetic in the least and very sarcastic in her tone. No sense of urgency what so ever to right THEIR mistake. I called at noon EST she wasn't in yet, called back at 3pm EST she's at lunch, she calls back at almost 9 PM EST to inform that she thinks she has more vinyl material and still doesn't have a clue when it will be finished or shipped.

My 2 cents.. I was emailing Original Auto Interiors regarding a new too for mY NYB, this guy Kevin Tamblyn was VERY helpful, got back to me right away eveytime, answered all my questions, sent me samples and for $225 shipped, I'd have a new top in a week. But I'm guessing SMS was the same with you in the beginning.

I'm with the others on this one though , call the bank demand a charge back and order a new top from another vendor. Maybe even report them to the Better Busniess Burea. Get it out there that there service SUCKS.....
