1978 NYB Road Trip

The reward is knowing that another C body (and a Formal at that) is being kept on the road where it belongs. Not enough people into Formals in my opinion...they are fantastic road cars. I like to help out the C body crowd when I can.

Enjoy the trip in your time machine...I look forward to the pics.

Thanks again Mr. C!!!

Mr. C brought up a great point!

When driving on North America's roads, back roads and highways...

Make no mistake...

Formals are the "King Of The Road"!!!

A picture going through the Allegheny Mountain Tunnel on the Pennsylvania Turnpike. Look at the bottom of the picture you can see the hood ornament and part of the hood. Left lane and hammer down...

I bet those flowmasters sound good in there. I've been through the Chesepeake Bay tunnel a few times with my Newport. The sound reverb in the tubes is outrageous!

Well, finished up the first day. Started by fixing the wipers. Have to go to the Mopar dealer in the morning DSC02239.jpgDSC02240.jpgand get some bushings.

Next, we (Mike & my nephew Matt) go to dash tore apart and troubleshooted the A/C system. We found all but the red and the brown vacuum hoses disconnected. Also replaced the fan motor switch, the fan blower resistor, and the max air/heat/defrost/vent controller. Everything works now an air blows out where it is suppose to. It is just taking a little longer than usual for the air to switch from defrost to A/C and switch to any mode. All 3 vacuum actuators are acting like that. They all work but take longer than usual to switch over. The young man on the driver side is Mike and the younger man on the passenger side is my nephew Matt. Thanks fella's!!!

We got the rear seats and the package tray out. New seats and a quick paint job on the package tray in the morning. New stereo and antenna going in tomorrow. A few other items too. Found some items from the squirrels and/or mice under the seats. I did not find a build sheet 0under the rear seats or under the dash pad. Hopefully will find one under the driver's seat.

Looks like the prior owner was a Holy Roller.
Probably prayed a lot while driving looking for a miracle that a wiper link would fall to the earth.
"Dramatized" version? WTF?

That was strange since they had a am/fm/cb factory radio. Also the radio was out before. I found a commercial radio repair company sticker with a Pennsylvania phone number stuck to the side of the radio.

The CB was used to spread the word of The Lord.
Truck stop evangelist. Saw a few of them over the years.
Evangelists, ho's and beggers. What a mix!

That's a real resto-cruise; try to sell it to some TV-station as one of these docu-soaps and you'll be able to buy back your Super Bee and Challenger and still have money left for a garage with workshop. :)

And I thought you're supposed to see the USA in a Chevrolet.

Hey Bob, any one of the upgrades and/or repairs your doing is reason to be excited.... But everything together.........????? Are you gonna be able to contain yourself.....:blob8:

Bob, I want a step-by-step detailed description of replacing the heater box. I pray you're taking notes.

Be careful of the weather, reports are calling for Tornadoes all the way up to the Canadian border
