392 Hemi, WIW?

I would assemble that engine with the long runner intakes and display it in my garage if it was mine. All shiny new paint and setting on a stand. I would put it in the living room if my wife didn't live in the same house.

Looks like a good haul!

What would you like for the hemi block? maybe the Keith Black rocker covers too? Im not sure if that crank i see would fit it, does it have 8 bolt holes on the flange? I think it would look cool in my second charger project when I get around to it

About five years ago, I saw that setup in a Fusie. Absolutely snapped my mind. To this day I still cant figure out if it was an epic fail or absolutely genius. Five years later I'm still talking about it so probaby genius. Drop dead gorgeous car.

Well today I showed everything to all my car buddies and got some good info. One friend who worked for Chrysler for years and was involved in racing told me the block is a Milodon not a Keith Black. There is no markings or stamping on it anywhere. The crank is an aftermarket hemi crank of some kind. Most of it is early 70's vintage apparently.

You're right Stan. The block, aluminum rods, cam and blowers were probably used on a pretty hard core race car in the early to mid 70's. I guess I should market them to the nostalgia drag race crowd.

If you can verify the age, or manufacture date of the parts...those guys might gobble that stuff up! The HAMB guys would probably eat that stuff up as well...lots of guys building "period" correct cars. What period they are build too is sometimes up for debate...but seems some of those guys have deep pockets.

He said big demand in the right places like the Hot Rod reunion in Bakersfield or Long Beach. I asked him where his friend Roland got his expertise in racing and he told me His last name is Leong, AKA "The Hawaiian" Good enough for me!

Very exciting but things like this always make me think why the previous owner didn't try to do his own research, he obviously knew he had something special. He got himself in that much of a bind for money that he had to liquidate?

There were two styles, Long rams and Short Rams with different AFBs on them. Are both AFBs there? Are the balance plates both there and the balance tube? Is the bell crank and all the linkage there? A complete set up with the AFBs and no missing pieces in long or short design...E-bay or Carlisle...$2500.00 Minimum. The carbz alone are worth 1K. Chris, If I'd read the whole thread and seen the pix before I started yappin' with my fingerz I'd have known those were Long Ramz. Those started life on a 1960 300F or '61 300G Chrysler W/413 block. The only difference 'tween long and short ramz is in the length of the internal runnerz, The over all lenght is the same 'tween the two. The visual difference iz that there is no indentation on the ram tubes of the short ramz for the 1st half of the runners coming from the carbz, and on the 2nd half the indentation iz there! MOTHER MOPAR CHANGED THE TORQ CURVE BY CHANGING THE INTERNAL RUNNER LENGHT BETWEEN THE LONG AND THE SHORT RAMZ. '60F-'61G v/s '63J AND '64K. Jer

I agree with Bob, if one head is cracked the rest needs to be checked first before any deal is made. The salvage yard that I roamed through with Matt(Rattle Trap) last week had 3 Hemi's, 2 were under hoods of Chryslers and 1 was a Desoto that was exposed to the elements. My impression of the guy running the yard was that he didn't care about all the vintage stuff scattered around the woods and I can't imagine he would want much for any of it. If you pull the trigger and end up needing a head, pm Matt, I bet he'd be willing to help you out.

Hey Matt where was that yard at? There used to be a yard up on M-21 between Emmett and Pt Huron that had alot of cool stuff. I wonder if it's still there?

That is a really cool pile of parts! Someone some where is looking for what you have. My uncle had a 392 in a 32 Ford with 3 2 barrels. I have a soft spot for the old Hemis.
