So I bought this car three years ago from the original owner;I documented what we did and I was excited to share the story. Now comes the twist.Today a fine young lady on her phone took a turn into me and I am in need of some parts gentlemen. Included is a before and after set of photos.

That's a damn shame. I assume the girl was contacting her insurance company right before hitting you. Have you gotten any repair quotes from restoration shops?

Damnit! Sorry to see that. Who's your insurance company?

Presuming this is an insurance job, and the "fine young lady" will be paying for the repairs, I'd make calling Murray Park and Nigel Mills my first two calls.

Sorry to see. My Barracuda got rear-ended at an off-ramp by a carful of hip-hoppers, they knew what they could get away with and drove off, I was outnumbered and outsized and it was at night, I had their tag number but the police did nothing. I hope you get a full repaint for all your aggravation.

Wow that blows, your car was probably accident free for it past 50 yr life till this. Similar thing happened to me.. my car NEVER been hit prior too this in October 2015. Minor compared to yours.. make her pay for EVERY inch of the damage..

Ouch! seeing two in one morning! I think of this every time I see a deer or millennial with a smart phone. I guess we weren't Immune. In 1972 I watched in shock as a good friend of mine while stationed In Panama walk through a tail rotors path while reading a letter from home. Only through the grace of God we had just shut the helo down, and the rotor was spinning slow enough that it missed his head. I proceeded to kick his butt, and banned him from the flightline!

Update:
Progressive wants body shop estimates as it's beyond their ability to comprehend.
So I'm sourcing parts and or a donor car. Then we can estimate the claim.
prices on any parts or cars would be appreciated. There is a $400 one on ebay in NY. Does anyone know about this car?
Thanks ! Chris

I can tell you this about it.. It's too cheap and too much hassle. Call Murray park and ask for the best of everything you need.

It's really not up to you to be doing Progessive's job for them but probably not a bad idea to be able to point to solutions when they insist there aren't any and offer you $2500 to go away.

Have they accepted liability?

These things always turn into a shitshow with a classic car. The insurance co is going to treat a 66 Chrysler like scrap but if they have accepted liability then they have to make you whole.

A local collision shop is not going to want to help with this as they are into volume. You need to find a restoration shop that is familiar with old cars and has connections as far as parts etc go.

Get an estimate from that kind of shop and tell Progressive to get out the big checkbook.

Kevin

Restoration shops only. Don't let a "collision center" touch it or you will be regretting it in a year or two. Have proof of needed parts cost (quotes/ebay price printouts) when approaching the insurance company, and price the best available so you don't run into additional expense repairing rust on your dime.

The Village Garage here in East Atlanta are stellar. Just talked to Murray; think he has most parts. Thanks !
I might still need that door...text me 404 401 4628

Love being here !

You should really look into Hagerty insurance once you get through this.

Man these pics made me sick to my stomach. That Blows ,i am so sorry.
Please continue to let us know how it goes and what is involved so we can learn more from this.
Progressive offers classic car insurance? What do they put the value of your car at?
