66 new yorker...was to be a nice story reveal

Chrysler is insured for $25K, GTO $40K through Hagerty; $482 per year. I'll probably bump the GTO to $60K after I restore it.
Your Chrysler is underinsured. What if that got totaled somehow, would you be able to replace it for 25k??

If it got totaled somehow, it wouldn't get replaced. What would you insure it for? I think I inquired about upping the coverage to $30K and the premium was going to increase like $150.

What's it valued at in the condition yours is in? How much do you have into it?(you don't have to answer that)
$150 per 5K increase doesn't sound right. I just increased my coverages last year on my vert by almost 15k and it worked out to more like $25 per 5K I think.

Well all this talk should ask the question, how much is my car truly worth and how do I find out for sure? Is the Hagerty Valuation tool sufficient? Is 10,000 too low for my Fury III?

Further update:

Ordered everything I needed from Murray, swell fellow !

My 66 new yorker and Newport are daily drivers and I do not have a garage so conventional insurance is my option.
This was a no rust no dents original paint garaged since 1988 new yorker.
It's going to be worth half after repairs and paint I'm afraid but heck I'm going to drive the piss out of it.

Hagerty requires you to have a regular insured daily driver so you could regular insure the lesser car and and have Hagerty insure the better one.

I think it also has to do with the value I've got the GTO insured for too.

Your Formal is valued at $9k with Grundy???
Hagerty says I'm maxed at 75-hundred and that's as high as they will go.
The twins are Hagerty @ $10k apiece. No arguing required. The parts car is liability only on my regular 21st century acct... there wasn't enough indoor space to do anything else with her and they didn't even want to discuss full coverage... hope my windshield never breaks.

They also require you to have inside storage and that's the tricky part for Chris.

I can't imagine that has anything to do with it but maybe there's more risk because of your location.

Good news, man. Make it right and definitely enjoy it. It's a beautiful car.

My 66 is in the snowbank as we speak and the wagon is only under cover in the winter. All Hagerty wanted was pics of where they were parked in the summer and they were good.

Maybe because I live in the sticks makes a difference but they had no problem with it.

Kevin.

Never mind. I just upped it to 10k for another 23 bucks for the year. ☺️
Ok so it'd be $46 per 5K based on that. I increased the Imp by 3k and the vert by 13k and I swear the increase on the premium was less than 100 bucks, in fact I'm sure of it because my old premium was about $705(thank you Michigan:soapbox:) and my new premium is still less than $800.

Location has a great deal to do with the rate charged. my Brother(God rest his soul) had the exact same car(67 GTX) in Phoenix, and he paid twice as much as I did. also, the more cars you have Insured the cheaper it gets with Hagerty.

FWIW, I really don't believe the insurance carriers charge so much based on risk as they just work hard to see how much they can get away with in some locations.

Since I don't have a garage.... my Formal's are insured by Smith & Wesson and others.

No.... just insured with liability on my regular insurance.

I would disagree. I know for a fact that premiums can vary depending on what part of the Detroit area you live in.
