Is there a second seal? What does it look like, where does it go, is there an aftermarket P/N for it?

Looks like the one on the left.

OEM # is 2466548 and last I knew, you could still buy these over the counter at the dealer. I see them on eBay too, but usually cheaper from the dealer.

Pull the E-clip off and the second seal is under it. Really easy to change. Note this pic has the other seal removed.

As an FYI for everybody else, this is the same seal used in a '65 and earlier 727/904, except it goes in the case rather than the valve body.

I did that seal 2 weeks a ago. That area is now dry. I pulled the valve body to do it and used a new "performance" pan gasket in hopes the pan would seal properly. Nope.

FWIW2U, the best pan seal I've attained with this old '66 body consists of a good FelPro fiber gasket with a generous amount of red RTV on both sides of it. The Elders sealed it up pretty good, but AZ heat takes a toll on everything here, and with the pavement ambient temperatures around 150F, the undercarriage of any vehicle run on that absorbs plenty heat. This destroys everything, sooner or later.

I've got the 1968 tranny for my ride in good shape, and it will bolt right on when the time comes. You might avail yourself of a newer one, or not, as your needs allow and require. I strongly suspect some supernatural forces may be necessary to keep our C bodies leak free. They were meant to last 5 years after all....
