68 Polara restore back on

Detailing my scripts. Will post a couple of finished pics, but here is the link for the details. Correct shadow detail for emblems?

Installed some of my stainless and tightened my emblem with some success. I did break the 3rd stud in my Polara emblem. It seems that they were a little oversized compared to the other one I twisted it off trying to start the nut. Drilled out and added a machine screw like the others. Used mastic washers under the washer to seal as the original nut have mastic sealer. Then a star lock washer and double nut to keep it from backing off so they don’t loosen over time.

More trim pieces. Every thing polished up nicely except the door handle.

Mirror has a little bit of sand blasting but not as bad as the handle.

Emergency brake in Just need to adjust the cable and brake system is complete and ready to go.
I think door latches and side windows next. And then back to the Upholstery.

Vent windows. Disassembled, polished and installed. Have to leave it loose until I get the front windows in. When I disassembled 10 years ago and found this part at the bottom of the door. Finally found out that it was the cap for my vent window regulator. I was able to put a little grease on the screw and tack the cap back on with a ball pean hammer.

Really great attention to detail. Very nice work, all credit due. I enjoy this thread alot since my mother owned a 68, same color, same white top. Brings back alot of great childhood memories.

Well done sir.

On the emblems, the jamb nut is a great idea, another is Blue Locrite 243, or for those of us that are frugal clear nail polish on the threads

Your attention to detail is mind blowing. You will have the finest example on the planet when done.

Thanks all. I just need to make sure now that I have the end in sight I don’t get in a hurry and cut corners. I have come this far so I need to continue doing it that way.

Hey man, You've been with it this long, why rush?
Funny, I was remembering why I'm so attached to your build (aside from the amazing work):

Different year and model but the first C Body I ever drove and though the old digital photo would mislead you, very close in color to yours. She, unfortunately met her end t-boned by a Honda at a high rate of speed. Definitely one I would have liked to restore.

That is cool. Tell me more about the 1/2 top or is that considered a Landau (sp?) top?
Thanks

I actually know very little about that. When my friend bought it back in 1999 or so, I'd never even seen a 67 Monaco in person... I just kind of took it on faith that that was something Ma did. I've never seen another before or since. I was hoping someone up here would know but I think we came to the conclusion that is was a custom element due to a tear in the vinyl or body work around the windshield.

Kind of looked cool! Sad she ended like this:

I think I've learned that lesson a little this year, stay focused and know what little might get accomplished, you are still ahead of where you were. Besides, the deadline isn't until the first weekend after memorial day!:poke:but I'm sure you will want the car out earlier. You might need to rope it off in Farmington so I don't drool on it too much!

Very nice thread - very similar detailing and parts/systems refurbishment to what I'm doing with my 66 Monaco. I'm looking forward to the next installment.
