69 Fury 1 2 dr 6 cyl 3 speed manual.

Thanks miket, that's music to my ears. I'm going to make a copy of the exhaust so I can play it on the radio while I'm driving my Toyota.

Yep c-barge that is correct. Lol, polarus I hear ya! I dont drive one, but I do work for them in the parts dept at a local dealer. Hope to take it a bit futher than around the block now. Had to repair a couple things on the clutch the prev owner had done.

Haha I thought it sounded familiar, its the same cam thats in our '70. Definitely sounds great and your car in general is pretty bada**!!

Thanks again for all the nice words on the car. It seemed like it took forever, but was in reality an 8 month project and it was 1-2 days a week. Just glad to finally be at this point and start on the interior. I am kinda tossing around the idea of a deep red for the seats and the door panels as well as headliner. I think with a black dash and carpet it would look sharp. We'll see though.

Please do...Ox Blood red leather is Gorgeous! ;)

Well I spoke with the previous owner and picked up a couple extra pts he had for my car and he was able to shed some light on why the clutch slipped so bad. He had put a couple washers between the disc and the pressure plate, why I have no idea! but I took them out last night and now it grabs! It now needs to be adjusted a bit bit he welded the nut on the adjusting bolt through the fork. I will have to take that off and re-do it so it will work correctly. Now the clutch pedal only comes back up halfway and stops, you can kick it up if you put your toe under it and flip it. Uhh always something when you re-do someones project!

Don't give up the ship now. This car is too special.

Check under the dash to make sure he used the "over throw" spring (incorrectly called the return spring - it's not) on the clutch pedal. Sounds like he left it off.

I will commando1, there is no spring under the car. I will look under the dash first though. Oh I wont give up! Its nice at least the clutch does grab and it will pull the car now. I took it down the road and back, seems to have some pretty good power to it!

Its a newer multi-finger unit thrashingcows. Should not be a huge deal to get it fixed. My buddy is really good with 4 speed stuff so I hope next week to get it fixed right.

I thought with the newer multi finger clutch that you don't need the over center spring? Just a light spring to bring the pedal back up to it proper rest height.

I understand that to be an old wives tale.
That is exactly why I pointed out that it is an over-center spring. Not an assist spring or a return spring. Has nothing to do with clutch assist. The over center spring is just that. Once the pedal reaches mid way through the arc of the swing in either direction, the spring "snaps" it over the the other half of the arc, just like a toggle clamp. This will get the clutch pedal to return fully.

The problem is that the spring can also hold the pedal to the floor, as the diaphragm style clutch fingers do not exert the same force as the three-finger causing a no return of the pedal.

Just a question for you guys. My insurance guy called and I want to up the coverage on my Fury now that it is almost done. He asked me what I thought would be a good amout to cover it for, I said 15g. He had no problem with it, but he got a call and the company wants to know how I came up with the number of 15g. Do you think thats a fair number? or is it to high? Just wonder your thoughts.

They already have a hi/ lo figure.
Ask them flat out what they have on their books
Then go for the highest figure and make them sweat.
