69 Fury 1 2 dr 6 cyl 3 speed manual.

Hi Commando, yea speaker cut outs but no defogger. Yea im thinking thats whats gonna happen, just make something. Not a huge deal just would be nice to pop something in!

YUP! I knew it would be hard to get stuff for this one. Lucky the previous owner had lots of parts for it already. Oh well at least this is something that can be made and not be a huge deal to do. At least I did find a new windshield for it and its local and a good price. Still trying to work at getting some seats for it out of a parts car.

Yes I agree, that is fun to chase the parts down and of course meet some new car people! This guy is nice enough, but thinks he has gold with these seats he has. He would not give me a price just kept saying "make an offer" so we drove to look at them. Of course once we get there he gives me a price. He of course wants a bit more than I would have offered, I did offer a little less and you would have thought I just shot his mother by the look on his face! I guess I will have to pay his price after all. Just annoying when ya get the runaround for so long.

Hey Mike,

BTW did ya get the floor shift hump from Resto Rick yet?

Also, can't ask enough questions about the conversion in your car (might send a PM with them all, lol!) - one that came to mind, did the previous owner have to change the trans cross-member when he installed the BB manual gearbox?

Or I'm wondering, regardless of 3-speed manual 'box (/6 or V8 type), the same cross-member is used as perhaps the mount at the rear of each 'box is dimensionally in the same location? Or am I crazy...

Then another query springs to mind: is the mount at the rear of the 4-speed A-833 'box dimensionally in the same location, i.e. could you fit one in your car and retain the existing cross-member?

I have plans forming in my head, thus the reasons for the queries mate! Bear with me lol. Any info appreciated, perhaps your guru friend could divulge some info too...

Hi Aidan!

I have not got the floor part from Ricks, yet. It is on my list though!

Ask away! Any question you have I will try to answer or get them for you from the previous owner.
He is a really nice guy and enjoys sharing info about the car and what all he had done to it.

He felt really bad selling it. When the plant shut down he worked at for years shut down he had to let a couple cars go and this was one of them.

I believe the mount is the same on the A-833 is in the same spot, not 100% though. I will try to find that out.

You can msge me anytime! I will try to get info to help you out!

Mike

Hey Mike,

Thanks again for that document re: the engine mounts, that friend of yours is quite ingenious I must say!

Also, I note that your car has a manual steering box? Actually meant to ask that before, if steering was manual or power. So what's it like, driving your BB '69 Fury with manual steering? I can see now why narrow (relatively speaking), tall front tyres are required.

Also, what rear end is in your car? Is it an 8 3/4" diff, if so, is it original to the car? Just am not sure if the /6 cars had a different rear end to V8 cars? Note according to the factory brochure, 3.23:1 was the standard rear axle ratio in a /6 car, with 3.55:1 optional:

For the 1970 model, 3.55:1 was the only rear axle ratio in a manual Slant 6 Fury:

Hi Aidan,
Yes it is a manual steering car and it is a chore to drive in tight spots! the big block and the stick means you're gonna get a work out parking the thing! lol.

The rear is an 8 3/4 with 2. 76 gears. I am not sure if it is orig to the car or not though.
I do want to swap in 3.23 gears.

Mike

I am surprised that 2.76 gears would be on a /6 3 speed on a Fusie.
That is a lot of weight to launch.
Recipe for a new clutch at least once a year in my opinion.
Yes, get the 3.23 in there!

Hey Mike,

More queries on your car mate!

Previously it was high-lighted that the gearbox in your car is more than likelyan A-745 unit (1961-1971 HD applications, according to one web source);makes sense as the A-903 & A-230 unit applications were as follows:

A-903: One source says used 1960-1972 with Slant Sixes, whole another says1960-1970 for 6-cyl & low power V8s

A-230: One source says used 1973-on with Slant Sixes, while another says1970-onwards.

Thus a few queries that your friend may be able to answer?

• Firstly, did the previous owner have to modify the drive-shaft lengthfollowing installation of the manual 'box?

• Secondly, did he have to source the specific "Z-Bar" (torque shaft)for the C-Body BB application, or modify that '70 Coronet shaft?

•Thirdly, clutch-release fork? Bryan (Tallhair) advised me to check outBrewers Performance (thanks Bryan!):

http://www.brewersperformance.com/category10.asp

They offer both new and reconditioned original clutch forks for “1962-65 B-body and1964-72 C-body applications”.

I’m pretty sure this actually means 1962-64B-body and 1965-71 C-body applications I take it, as 1964 was the last year that the full-sized models were on the B-Platform (whichactually continued on in 1965 with Plymouth’s Satellite & Belvedere, andDodge’s Coronet etc. etc, so wonder does this fork fit those cars too….anyway,I digress), and 1965 was the first year of the C-Body.
No manualgearboxes/transmissions available after 1971 in a C-Body, with automatictransmission being standard in 1972.

Cheers, Aidan

Hi Aidan,

I did email Tony (prev owner) about the info youre looking for. Im sure he will get back to me pretty quick! I am out of town till Tuesday, going to Arizona for a little vaca and get out of the deep freeze here in Mn! I will let you know what he says as soon as I get back.

Take care,
Mike

Sorry Mike, blond moment re: the drive-shaft. I meant when he replaced the existing manual box with the heavy duty one, was there any issues with the drive-shaft length, i.e. is current V8 'box longer than the original /6-spec. 'box (my sentence kinda implied that he replace an automatic 'box...). Probably a silly question but thought I'd ask.

Wow, I need more coffee...

Hello! Hope all is good with you guys. Its been a while since any new updates/progress on the fury so thought I'd just post a little bit of whats new with it.
Still trying to get the interior put together. I bought some bucket seats out of a dodge squad car as the front bench is not out of a C body and is to narrow. Getting the windows tinted soon as well. I am also going to swap out the engine. A friend has a fresh stroked 400 with next to no miles on it he is selling me, he is putting an aluminum headed 440 in his 73 Challenger so wont need the 400. It will really be a great eng in the Fury! We are hoping to do the swap this weekend on his car and maybe next week get the 400 into mine. The 383 in it will get bagged and put on a stand. Looking forward to getting some miles on it soon!

One other item I am looking to put on is a set of headers. They are very expensive to get for a C body. My son works as a welder for a local shop, Stainless Headers is the name and they do custom headers for cars as well as planes and boats. He actually just did some exhaust for a B-29 bomber being restored in Texas. Very cool. Anyhow I am hoping he can make some for my Fury soon.

Hello guys,
Finally got the Fury out and on the road for more than around my block. Farthest the car has gone in many, many years. We installed a new clutch last nigh and lots of adjusting with the mis mash of parts to put together the z bar etc the prev owner put in it, the car finally has a clutch that will grab! The stroker swap will happen sometime in the next month. I just wanted it on the road for the big Mopar show here May 30-31st. It runs great and drives pretty well but will need to go through the front suspension to make it even better!

I do have some pics of it these days. I'll get the boy to load them up, Lol Have a great Memorial Day weekend!
