'69 Fury III Convertible Build Thread- Project IVY

Ok here is a name for you hear me out. Hutch, where did you come up with that name you ask? You mentioned that you just call it Newport. One of the founding settlements in Newport RI was started by Anne Hutchenson. I had a buddy with the same last name and we all called him Hutch.

So there you have it you are still calling him something in reference to Newport and I personally think Hutch sounds like a good car name.

Well, that certainly is creative the way you arrived at that name. First time anyone has suggested a male gender name for my car.

I love my small block, love the way it looks in my engine bay, with my planned modifications (all of which fit the above criteria) it should have around 330-350 HP and will have 10:1 compression, should run good and will preform good for me.

Cleaned up the jack base, gave it a paint job (primer, paint, clear)

Also got the scrap doors of it, all my panels are going to be bodyworked pretty soon, by March the car should be starting to come back together with bodyworked-primed-jammed panels ready to go on it. ordered my $650 in brake parts today from the multiple sources I had to go through to get them, atleast my Entire brake system will be brandnew.

one done

I wish I had your time & space.

I get tired just seeing all the energy that he's expended already on his car! LOL!

If your going to do it, might aswell do it right.

as far as the '62-'64 Dodge vs '67-'72 Chev, I have access to multiple (atleast 5) parts trucks and as far as building a Chev Motor for it, I have 2 of them in my shed right now (305 & 350), in my parts the Chev's are super cheap (they built them about 10 minutes from my house).

I can almost assure you if I find a decent base cheap that'll be my starting point, and when the two are weighted, it's leaning towards the Chev, doesn't mean I won't find a Dodge before the Chev though, things work out weird sometimes.

This is kinda the point...... You'll have to try your key to see which chevvvy is yours.....
Won't have that problem with the Dodge.

In my area, you never see these trucks at shows, besides, I'm a unique guy, my stuff has always been something that stands out in a parking lot.

I don't buy vehicles that aren't in my area, let alone my country, to man hassles, a $2000 vehicle becomes a $5000 when taxes and freight and duties are factored in, I also am a cheap skate, I've never paid more than $2000 for a vehicle, my daily driver is a low KM '93 Cheyenne without a single issue, paid $1800 for it and the previous owner gave me a set of year old $637.95 Perelli Winter tires with it.

Like I said, I will end up paying very little (much like my Fury) but still have something that looks as good as everything else at a show. I don't mind basket cases, I see the potential.

HA...... He COULD have gotten those tires for $637.42..... got ripped off.... LOL.

I posted those links just to show how easy it is to find an old Dodge truck, lots of them in Canada too. Just doing my part to rid the world of chevvvvys. I've owned a few... Bought a NEW 87 2500 4X4 Silverado.... What a POS that was.

Back when I had your energy and little cash I wasen't afraid of a builder either.

I'm loving watching your Fury go together... Keep up the good work.

If I buy an old truck, it's going to be a make where every single part is repopped and cheap.

Like I said, I never had a problem yet with my truck, by buddy has a Ranger, he's had nothing but problems, have another friend with a Ram, same story.

It comes down to previous owner more than make sometimes, I have known the owner of my Truck my whole life, he had it since '95, and I actually now at my workplace do the service on the company who owned my truck first's new service trucks, Dodge Rams, I can honestly say the newer Mopar vehicles are my Bread and Butter vehicles, most of brake jobs are on Dodges.

As for the Trucks up here, theres a lot out west, but out west ins't where I live.

As for the Tires, I wouldn't have paid that (I would have paid cost) but he did and I have the receipt that shows it (there still under warranty)

Nick

I know............Chevy/Ford trucks are about the only trucks where you can get every piece repopped.
