There's a certain amount of satisfaction one gets after a good and thorough session with a media blaster.

Looks like you've got a great start on her. Keep the pictures coming.

A lot of work a head of you. I am glad to see you are trying to save the car, most would have headed for Z hills....

Thanks Guys, what can I say, The car won me over, something about it just appeals to me, now I must have the pleasure of driving it, so Gotta get it to that point no matter what He needs.

Stopped by my buddies house and got my sheet metal, 4' x 8' of 18 Gauge, and half sheet (4' x 4') of 20 gauge. 8' Box is a great thing sometimes.

When life hands you lemons you gotta keep on truckin' or something like that.....................
I think you mean beer before liquor you'll prolly be fine.

Way to man up & not run away scared from a little rust. I am seriously impressed & can't wait to see the progress photos.

Video won't load. Looks like the link maybe got cut short.

The trials and tribulations of a convertible. Are you going to be able to create the strengthing ribs in that flat sheet metal? Also, being a convertible, would you leave new drainage openings for water? None of our cars had great openings for eliminating water in low spots. I'm going through this on my big Merc where the trunk floor needs replacement (these are reproduced) and one lower quarter behind the tire had a small rust through. Water trying to drain through a 1/8" slot can easily get clogged.

When the person who restored my '64 Skylark convertible got to the trunk floor he found a unique solution. The original trunk floor had minimal rust, but there were a few small holes in spots. The solution he picked was to get a large slab of what I called boiler plate - it appeared to be about 1/4" thick - and welded it to the inside of the trunk floor. From beneath the floor looked original with the ribs and plugs in place. With the trunk mat in place you couldn't tell that the floor wasn't correct, and that plate was strong as all get-out.

The original drain tubes were intact on that car but were clogged with tiny stones. I used a long screwdriver and cleaned them out. The car never seemed to have water problems.
