70 300H Convertible ??????????

I'm not going to get in a battle of words but I have read through his number extensively and they are not without their errors. Where I commend him on his efforts and fully understand the depth of what he has done I do not worship him but at the same time I do not jump on the bash Govier bandwagon.

Part of the problem I have is that many of the production numbers are reverse engineered from percentages and not actual production counts.

I guess I'm tiered of people quoting his numbers like they were written in stone.

Alan, I was agreeing with you. My intent was to not diminish, criticize or critique what you had written; only to reinforce it. I believe you had already written a definitive response to the question.

Any chance you snapped a couple of photos of the whole car?

It is stuffed into a 2 car garage and I could only get a few front and side pics. Since it is not mine I will chk with the friend that owns it and if is good with it I ,ll post the pics I have. From the other data plate with the car it looks like a 300 with the base engine E85= 440 4bbl. All the Hurst coupes and the one convertible have a engine code of E86=440HP. Unless the broadcast sheet is there and it shows something else I think it is just a nice clone.

Ok, no problem.

I think the issue here is was that the convertible may not have started life as a "Hurst 300" maybe one of them was coded as such but if more than one "official" convertible was made they may not have been true Hurst 300 package cars but a standard 300 with the hood deck lid and paint job to make it look like a Hurst 300.

From what I have been reading on the board it may seam that not all true Hurst 300 cars had the A12 on the data plate.

I wouldn't trust what Govier has to say about anything but a Hemi car.

Alan

The Hurst convertible does not have an A12 on the fender tag, because it was an executive ordered public relations car built mid year production. Hurst asked Chrysler to provide a few convertibles for promotional use and apparently only one was built, but two were scheduled.

Hurst had some requirements for the car they wanted. White interior, bucket seats, non console, and fully loaded with almost every option.

Chrysler sent that car to Hurst and the car was built at Hurst into the Hurst 300 convertible. The car was originally painted in a Ponitac/Hurst color sometimes called "Firemist Gold" and not the "standard" Hurst 300 color.. It was likely painted at least three times from 1970 to 1972.

Interesting. Where did you find this detailed information? Just curious.

so does it code 999 for paint and if yes....is the VON in line with special paint VONs or executive order VONS?

BIN at $125,000.

It would be nice if Ma Mopar bought it and put it in the WPC Museum.

Congratulations on getting the car.

How about a photo of the fender tag?

Did you buy it for the NOS parts load? I'm sure you realized that the car is a "tribute/clone",...still cool though, and a fun cruiser.

Was looking for a big cruiser , the Hurst add on,s is just icing on the cake. Has legendary seat covers front and rear in the boxes . It will take a bit when I get to sort thru the parts . I ,ll get some pics when I get it home.

Picked up a load of parts and some paper work for it. Plan is this Sunday to bring it home. Still
sorting thru the parts and some more to pick up Sunday.

Got it home ,once I get it cleaned up I ,ll get some better pics. A few pin holes in the trunk but nothing major was a Texas car before coming west. Still sorting thru all the parts.:D A pic of the fender tag. 300 with added Hurst parts. Regardless it is a big ragtop I have been looking for. The added parts just add up to making it a bit neater.
