Are there many of these around today? Any registry? Anyone have one or seen one lately? I know there was little over 7200 produced but wondering if they are kinda rare or going to be desirable since semi low production. Have the chance to save one and it has a lot of rust and no trunk left or rear bumper. What interchanges and worth saving?

Thnks,

Wizard

Hi Wizard, The 1971 300's are less common than the '69-'70, but I wouldn't say that they are rare. Quite a few of the nice ones have been exported to Europe, so that is one reason why you don't see all that many in the US these days. This Google search will show a small percentage of the ones that are still around:

It seems like you may be contemplating saving the one you have listed in the "for sale" section. Sad to say, but that one is way too far gone to save. It looks like it still has some good parts on it that someone could use, mainly the bumper and grill, along with some of the trim. If no one wants the whole car, it would be best to sell parts off it, then scrap what's left of the shell.

Yes, I noticed a lot of them have been going oversees from what I have been reading and seeing on you tube also. How do you get them listed for people over there to buy them? Hemmings? E-bay? Where else? Yeah, don't know to either save this one or let it get crushed which is where it is headed. I think it could be saved as I have saved a lot rustier a car. Just not a c body lately and need to see if I can buy parts or use other sheetmetal from other cars. Let me know

For Sale - 71 Chrysler 300 2 Dr.

Don't crush the '71 in the other post. That one will yield some decent parts for a more solid build project. As stated above, all the chrome and bright work trim, glass, disk brake setup, dash cluster, even the seat backs and sides for the '71 are hard to find. I even see a solid door pull in one of the pics, that one member here has been looking for for over a year. How far off the road is that one? Can it be dragged out of the woods, or is this a hike in and pull parts sorta deal?

It is doomed for the crusher unless I stop it. Yes, it can easily be gotten out of woods. Have the equipment to do this (loader) or dragged. Can be made into a roller if someone would buy it. Any idea where to get sheet metal for it or build your own? Can be done. Anything can be done.

I totally agree that anything can be done. My own 7+ year project is evidence of that. Does does this one have to be crushed/sold/moved by a specific date? Or, do you want to start this project, but unsure of parts availability? Any '69 - '73 Chrysler C will provide good unibody metal that fits. I have solid rear rails, stub frame and rockers sitting in my back yard, but you also need trunk, floors and probably firewall as well. Those part are out there, you just have to start looking/collecting. This one is a good beginning to that effort, just have to store them somewhere out of the weather until you are ready.....

Yes, death date was to be 2 Oct but since price of scrap went down. Pushed back to end of Oct or who knows with prices but for now set up for end of Oct for the crusher to move in. I can save it and store it somewhere else. Just wish someone else would do this as I have been saving everthing lately up to 40 cars now and running out of room and money. Township on my *** to. Everyone hates you when you try to save old cars. Neighbors are the worst

Ha, ha, ha, ha... I love it! You got a wife that bitches at you with those parts all over your yard? I got 40 acres in the middle of nowhere with nothing but trees and my damn neighbors got nothing better to do than rat me out telling on me. Cost me a lot to move them again under blizzard conditions, 1 foot of rain, etc.. and then had to jump threw hoops to try to spread out the stash I have. Got piles of parts and cars and tarps everywhere. Years of collecting and selling. Makes your back yard look like nothing.. My hoarding is my only hobby. No one understands and I am hated all the time of my hoarding. Can't let stuff get crushed. Specially the low production stuff.
Is there any way to get some of these swedes to buy some C bodies? Where's best to post so they see it? Hemmings? E-bag? Here? I sell at Hershey almost 20 years and deal a lot with the foreigners. Always tight with their money when you deal with them and always have to call one another and their King back in their homeland to see how much weight they can put in the container before they leave the show. Never sold a car to them oversea's
