No. Didn't start there. Lace and geometric paint jobs go back to the 60's at a minimum.

Can any of you all tell me which type of A/C system this seems to be? I've learned from you guys that one of the systems is costly to repair.

Well Blimp. 1st off WELCOME TO THE PARTY. You're looking at a Tecumseh V-2 compressor which Mother Mopar used for probably 30 yearz or so when it was replaced by the rotary type Sanden compressor when the industry went to the more environmentally friendly R134 freon when the R12 freon which the Tecumseh used was declared bad for the Ozone in the 1980's. And I'll add that nothing you do with can be considered cheap. Tell us what'z on your mind. Theirz ah lot of gray matter lurking on this site, Jer... BTW, R12 can still be perchased az of this conversation iz being pecked out but you won't like the price per pound cost. That's why most folkz convert to R134.
