The paint and woodgrain are probably better now than when car was on the lot when new. Nice job all around.
So it is adhesive backed. I have seen some "wraps" done with very thin material held in place strictly by static electricity, which I imagine do not hold up well. Did they clearcoat it after installing like the factory did?It is not real wood, but is a simple thin vinyl sheet. It’s basically a heavy-duty adhesive tape. You have probably seen vehicles covered in photo advertising - it is the same thing. This is the same type material used when it was new. Google “3M Dinoc” and you will get an idea of what it is.

It is a good feeling, isn't it?Cleaning stuff tonight. I like doing this as much as any aspect of the hobby. Cleaning up grungy stuff and making it look nice. One on the left has been cleaned. One on the right has not. Front fender lower trim.

Yes it is. I like turning cast off things into something useful. It is a good feeling, isn't it?
That's the same thing my wife said about me. (She's still working on it.)Yes it is. I like turning cast off things into something useful.
No, there is no clear coat...it is standalone construction.
In simple terms, it’s a glorified, super tough version of the sheeting your grandma used to put in the kitchen cabinets under the coffee cups, cans of green beans, and juice glasses in the 1970’s. Think: shelving paper.
I think so. Every one I have seen is pretty rotten, so I’m not too sure!I checked my parts book, it looks like the inner seal is two pieces and the outer is one. Does that sound right?
I think, a while back assume you mean Metro (Mould?) out of Minnesota?Have you tried Metro Rubber?
Yeah,I remembered the Moulding part when I saw you replied. A molded vs extruded seal is a different animal, wish you the best in finding one!I think, a while back assume you mean Metro (Mould?) out of Minnesota?
