Looks really nice - but I swear I've seen this car before - wasn't it a Las Vegas listing previously???

Owner not accurate with description. The Lean Burn has been converted (good thing). Pin cushion seats......he's not a C-Body guy. 1406 taken apart....probably will need a new one (no problem). The steering wheel will have to be replaced or recast. I would also think the leather seats will need a closer look because the desert heat is not kind to leather. The roof rail seals are probably shot too. From what I can see....it doesn't have any rust in the rear quarters. So this would pique my interest as possibly a rust free and garage kept car.

So typical problems but better than average

Yep, it appears to be rust free and in my book with Formal's that is what make this one special and better than average. Again, pictures can be deceiving. Can't really see the area around the rear window and condition under the vinyl...it appears to be good and if it is good I would definitely go after this one if I was looking for a Formal. This is also a manual A/C car (good thing) and the only other down side is that people smoked in this car. The silver piping on the ash tray is worn off so that indicates people were using the ash tray....a lot.

There are still a lot of nice ones out there with a lot less than 101,000 miles.

If I were still looking... this car would definitely warrant a little more time. Call him... get more pics... if you're worried about shipping... well I do understand that. Shipping was one of my biggest hangups when I was shopping... Its hard to buy too far away without taking a leap of faith.
But they seldom just show up in your neighborhood... just exactly as you like them.

Ya I saw that one listed from before. It does look like one I would be interested in.. Would need to consider shipping costs from AZ to NY in my budget. Ain't that always the story?
Fly in drive it home!!!

I know some crazy member that drove all the way to NC for a trunk pan
If he can do it so can you!

Chris, have you looked at this car?

No Bob not yet. If anyone is seriously interested I will go take a look. It will have to be in the next couple of days though because I have to go out of town for a funeral this weekend.

I would be very surprised if this became a time critical sale... $4500 is still a little strong for a NYB. I watched several promising cars at $5k or more just sit. There was a sweet 2 door St Regis Brown one out there for $5500 and it lasted several ad cycles.
azblackhemi, Thank you for offering to help someone buy this one... you're a better expert with these than anyone could hope to have helping them. 75LandYacht or IwannaImp, if this car comes close for either of you it would be foolish not to accept that offer. If I had a three car garage, I'd be digging in the couch cushions for change right now... and working on my negotiating tactics, I doubt this one sells for $ asked.
I would be surprised if this was the Vegas car... the interior looked a lot more baked IIRC. commando1 once stated that 76-77 was the sweet spot for these cars, I think he's biased, but not wrong... this one does avoid a lot of the system issues that folks have with these cars... auto temp, rear discs, 78 only items...

It's nice enough, but not enough to make me want to bring it back to S. Carolina. I'll be patient and hold on to my money.

A year ago I would have said this was a 35-hundred dollar car.
Today, I think you're going to have to spend close to the 45- hundred he's asking to get one this nice.

I certainly appreciate your willingness to road trip this car for me, though this one doesn't "JUMP OUT AT ME" and say Buy Me! It could be a contender. I'll keep searching.

Chris, I was wondering the same. Why? Because my son's boss wants to buy it, and they're supposed to do so THIS WEEKEND. They are supposed to fly to Phoenix and drive it back to LA. Don;t know if Mark has already paid the man or not. I suggested Jerry contact you for help and advice. He said he thought it would be real funny if you were the guy selling it!

My concern is the Eddy carb. If this is a factory lean-burn car, Mark is not going to be able to register it in California with that Edelbrock carb. I've told Jerry this.

Well, we'll see.

Interestingly, Jerry has turned his boss on to Mopar. Told him if he does get it they should take it to Spring Fling!
