Ads do a lot to pay for the website which takes a lot of dedication and time. people don't always appreciate what goes on behind the scenes. I don't mind seeing them on the web pages, but I'm happy to pay pennies a day to keep them from popping up!

Specifically however, I got no beef with FCBO and how the fund their digital operating needs

digital era businesses come to the best decision they can. given they (i.e., digital ads) are a fact of life/here to stay. Overused cliché, but nevertheless an economic truism: no such thing as a free lunch.

i became a FCBO gold member mainly for content/hobbyists reasons ... the "no ads" feature was "gravy"to me but wasnt/isnt a reason to stay or go for ME.

It (i.e., digital marketing using ads) does tend to annoy me anywhere i encounter it on-line (everywhere), but usually not to the degree i'd vote my displeasure with my feet.

OTOH, for my streaming movie/TV subscriptions i dont mind ads .. no "value" to me in an "ad free" option that usually raises the providers price. Not worth it to ME.

I dont peruse site -- ads nothwistanding.

I sign in, do whatever I am gonna do, then sign out. Since I don't see ads in that case, its not an issue for me. Gotta retire first (and or change the way I use the internet in general), I think, before just sitting down flippin' pages. On this site or anywhere..

However, I do see, when i am NOT signed in, the ability for the ads (on ANY site) to bug me a bit. In in the decade here, their (ads) frequency has increased a lot. Like I said, "sign-o-the-times" to me.

I agree with everything that everyone has said. My point is the ad level has become exceptionally irritating. Something has changed and the management has been absolutely silent. Not right.

Sounds alot like my experience on FABO
Here and "for trucks only" aren't near as bad for some reason.
Now please just because I said that PLEASE DON'T MAKE IT THAT WAY. FABO is damneer unusable because of the incessant ads. And yes when I have to "x"out ads 3-4 times to complete a single post that is beyond pathetic. They cover the post in trying to make and hide the text box so I can't see what I'm doing. I can understand the ads for help with paying for the site but not so incessantly and please if there have to be ads please make them relevant to the hobby at least

You must not be posting much here. You should have had to click down the pop ups at least three times after they'd blocked your view, to type that post. This paragraph took me five click downs. It is annoying.
