AirGrabber hood on a Fury???

I agree Stan, I saw a car at a auto show in Worcester many years ago that had a very similar set up recessed into the hood of his 69 Sport Fury coupe it looked just like the ones on a road runner but they were flush / recessed mounted. The guy who owned the car was not around so I could not see the entire set up.

They look sleek on that one thou.......... I wish I had a better picture.

It appears to be top notch body work, but I don't know...I just don't think any Formals can pull off a hood scoop (and very few C bodies in my opinion). A scoop seems out of place with the lines of the 74-78 cars. The wing is just all wrong on this car.

I often played with the idea of a well done scoop like this on a 75-78 Charger or 78-79 Magnum. I think that could be done well and work a more muscle look to one of those last generation B bodies.

The scoop is interesting

It is a '70 AAR 'Cuda scoop, the 340 six-pack sister to the T/A Challenger.

And yes, with certainty all '70 Furys had the twin bulges, you were the first to nail it, and I don't think anyone mentioned that the inset turn signal indicators were optional.

Personally I'm not that fond of the bulges all on their own, without the lights and badges...

Stan's favorite... '66-'67 Hemi scoop.

No choice but to open up the hood due to clearance issues with the Indy intake...

I will paint the scoop to match the car after I fit it to the hood contour in the rear.

When I said the scoop was interesting I meant on that car, almost very nicely done.

I didn't consider where it came from, thanks for that

I never get tired of seeing your Chrysler with that scoop sitting there..... I'm almost as anxious as you are

I think that the power bulges look good on the 1969 Sport Fury as well :eek:ccasion14:

Did you ever find a hood with the inset lights?

Yes I did thank you, I got them from a fellow member tqfastfish ... He was parting out a 4 door fury.

I still have them sitting now on a shelf awaiting to work on them .

The only one I ever came across was this one for parts !

1969 Plymouth Fury Sport Convertible
318 engine auto. trans in floor bucket seats, ( only 1579 were built ) custom hood, has rust in trunk floor, also needs rear frame rails,(parts car available) parts car has good frame rails, and floor pans.$old to Mark Taran of New York

This is funny. That is my old car. I am the one that did the hood. The scoop sections were off a 68 road runner that hood was crunched in the front. The hood scoop area was cut off then split down the middle. The d roped section of the scoop was set down into the hood where the under hood bracing was. So when popped hood it looked factory. It turned out pretty good

Dad would be impressed! The Air Grabber looks like it belongs on that hood.
His group designed the Air Grabber, Shaker and the twin short fake scoops on 69 cudas and later Dart Sports.
