Sure, the first engine, the Mopar, looks beautiful especially in the car that it's in. The engine in the second pic probably looks better in reality than it does in that picture. There's way too much clutter in the background with the toolbox, the decals, the engine stand, etc. Too many reflections showing in the chrome. The engine would look much nicer if it were in a car. Personally, if it were my engine, I would have stopped with the chrome valve covers and air cleaner. I don't like the pulleys, but then I wouldn't have put a serpentine belt on it either. That's just my personal taste and opinion though.

Now THAT is tastefully done. I like that the intake is engine color and I bet a dual snorkel air filter housing would really top it off nicely. I would walk right past the "chromed up niffy-naffy" engine to stop and admire yours. Personally I would paint the valve covers....... But it looks great.........:icon_thumright:

That looks great. I don't mind the chrome valve covers but I would have tried to find a pair of the factory chromed stamped steel pieces.

Now that is nice looking, tastefully done. Nothing wrong with a little flash & chrome here and there to accentuate things....however that Chevy or Pontiac or whatever GM motor is way over the top IMO.
I have a few polished aluminum parts on my NYB. I don't regret replacing the parts that I HAD to replace with aluminum parts.

Thanks guys! I'm really happy with how it's turning out so far. I'm heading out there tonight to hopefully finish things up. All that's left is the exhaust and then the cam break-in and an oil change and she will be cruisin' in style!
Oh, and I think I agree with the valve cover comment, Matt. I will probably change them out for some factory chromed ones eventually. It's also gonna be wearing a chrome air cleaner for now, but I may see if I can find a twin snorkel one soon.

Whew, it's been a busy couple days here, but we got it all done! I'm really happy with how it all turned out!
The following is a list of what we did, so you kinda know what your lookin' at: Eddy Performer intake, Eddy Thunder 650 AVS carb, Comp 268 cam, Cloyes chain, mech. fuel pump (to replace that boat horn elec. one!), HP manifolds and duals with X pipe and tips, Pertronix elec. dist. and coil, a mini starter, water pump, belts, hoses, a few chrome bits, a triple gauge panel tucked up under the dash, Mopar deep trans. pan, 2" lowering blocks in back, dropped the bars down about 1.5" in the front, and finally installed my wheels I've been absolutely jonesin' to install ! :yaayy:My bud even listened to some of my ramblings while there and took the ball and did a few detail items for me when I wasn't there. What a guy! He put some blue dots in the spinners on the wheels, and fabbed up a polished cover for my broken grille emblem, since I couldn't locate one. (Never really liked the red on the blue car anyway.) He also removed the shoulder belts because I hated the look of them hanging down all the time. I still need to figure out some sort of cover for the holes that won't look out of place against the cream colored headliner, but I'll figure something out.
All in all, I think it all came together nicely, if I do say so myself. The car is totally transformed into the custom I envisioned when I first saw it, yet still true to it's character and somewhat restrained. It definitely looks longer, lower, and cleaner IMO.

I'm more on the original side but these are some rather tasteful alterations in my opinion. Only the rectangular exhaust tips are a bit odd IMHO.
Oh, and I did level out those exhaust tips. They were level when I left the shop, but must have moved a bit on the ride home. Also, I added a few photos of some detail stuff. As for the gauges, they are a necessity I feel. I just don't trust idiot lights only. But I picked out black ones with font that matches the factory dash, and tucked them way back under there, so as to not disturb the overrall look of that killer dash. Unless your looking for them, they're not very noticable at all in person, unlike in the photo.
Thanks guys! Yeah, I kind of went back and forth on what tips to use. In the end I chose those because of the overall squareness of the lights, the light panel, and the rear quarters on the car. They actually pretty closely mimic the shape of the taillights.

I like everything excluding a personal taste difference on the exhaust tips... I think the rectangle Mopar tips would look better. I really like the wheels.
Very mild changes overall, I guess there will be some unhappy campers here with a '67 New Yorker when I move the leaf springs inward and put a B-body Dana 60 in it, along with frame connectors and a '66-'67 Hemi Super Stock scoop as this certainly will not clear the hood...

I guess my opinion differs as far as making a heavy car raise some eyebrows when it runs strong. I have many '67-'70 B-bodies, but I think stuffing a 700 hp Indy stroker in a C-body will be remembered longer by the slug of geeks with (slower than a New Yorker) Camaros and Mutstangs out there.
