And so it begins...

Thanks guys! I haven't been on in a while, nice to come back to some kudos. I haven't had much time for more updates lately, much less driving her much. I am currently working on getting some tunes in, though. Nothing too fancy, but it should rock out pretty good. I'll post some pics when I get it all in.

Very cool and looking forward to seeing the tunes setup! Where are you from?

Yeah, it should be pretty decent for a basic system. I should be done with it in the next few days or so, and will definitely post pics then. 66SportFury, I live in Byrnes Mill, MO about 30 miles southwest of St. Louis.

Crap, would have been cool if we lived closer. I'm in Jersey.

OK, so I finally got the system in. It consists of a Kenwood CD/MP3 player in a Pyle marine mounting box on the trans hump, 2-3 1/2" Polk 2-way speakers in a bracket bolted into the stock center dash speaker location, 2- Kenwood 3-way 6x9's in the package shelf, 2-10" Kenwood subs mounted in an old truck style box I had laying around, and a small Kenwood amp to power them. As for the head unit mounting, I really wanted to avoid putting it in the dash, and although I preferred it out of sight in the glovebox, there was NO way it was fitting in there. :icon_sad: Oh well, it doesn't look too out of place where it is, especially with the boxes' door closed. I also installed a 75A alternator to better keep up in case I'm rockin' out at night with the headlights on. And to get rid of that sword on the fender look, I installed a power antenna. While I was on a roll with the ol' girl, I took care of some detail items as well. I carpeted the trunk and added a fire extinguisher back there. And I finally painted and installed that darn missing lower dash piece under the steering column. No more ugly hole there! :yaayy: All in all I'm happy with this round of upgrades, and the system sounds pretty darn good! Definitely worth the small total investment to have some cool tunes in the cruiser! I took some pics, but the camera was acting up even with some added lighting. I'll get some better ones the next time I think about it when I get her out. Until then these will have to do.

Very nice, I'd love to hear it!

Thanks guys! Again, sorry about the crappy photos. I'll fix 'em soon so you can actually see some detail. Doh! I'm still working on adjusting a few things on the sound, but not too shabby at all. Bulldogchesty, I got the power antenna (and almost everything else) from Crutchfield. I had to fab a support bracket for the motor end of it, and also had to cut and use the stock base, but it wasn't too hard to make it work.
