Any point in using an X or H pipe?

Auto manufacturers spend a lot of time working out how much "cross coupling" to use on V8 motors of the dual plane crank variety. H or X pipe allow 100% of each banks exhaust pulse to "see" the other side and harness the cancellation effect of being out of phase.
Big benefits to be gained here if you add a pipe of at least 50% of the open area of each bank, in my personal experience the drone around 1500rpm to 2000rpm is reduced significantly with benefits at higher rpm too no doubt.
Given the tiny weight and packaging implications a 2" pipe vs an extra or larger muffler this is a very attractive proposition!
 

There is a lawn mower background sound. Damn people haven't mowed their yard in weeks and chose the day I want to take a video to do it.
