Bastardized 1959 "Coronet" build

Cars and coffee this morning, drove about 200 miles round trip to Lake Winnipesaukee, had lunch at Hart's Turkey farm... Yum...

A video taken of Boris while at a car show... (I wasn't around at the time)...

A pricey day for Boris yesterday.. 2 new tires on the front now that it appears the 225 experiment was successful. When my guy was balancing the second one he says "this rim is bent".. It was bent alright, even I could easily see it. OK, 150 bucks at a local rim repair place. ouch.. Then stop by the local Corvette dealer for a key which was 35 bucks when I bought the same thing for the cabover.... Not 35 anymore... now 65... ugh....

DiD you make it to Kellerhaus for desert? I haven't been up there in years. Next time you head out to a show give a shout out, I live in MA. and I would gladly take a road trip to NH. to see your mad genius on display.

We did not, but we just googled it and we certainly should!! There's a cars and coffee Sunday November 10th, 8am-11 on Capital St in Concord we plan to attend weather permitting... we'd probably arrive about 9:30 or so...

Working on the rear window. Welded the 2 panel halves together. Back on the car. I still need to decide rain gutters or not... I think I'll cut one off the remaining roof and mock it up onto the Corvette Targa top to help decide. That will dictate how I repair the rot on the current C pillars. I need to choose a sealant for metal to FG on the 59 roof to the targa bar. Then I'll see if I can cut the Lexan without F'ing it up.

My wife might get her wish of a back "glass" for this weekend's ride to a cars and coffee.

C pillars repaired. Rain gutters are going to stay and get extended onto the Corvette Targa top. Lexan goes in tomorrow (assuming I can cut it without screwing it up LOL)...

Rear "glass" trim will go back on. I REALLY like it! Top and bottom trim. no problem... Side/upper corner, problem as that upper corner angle has changed.... I'll have to visit my welding guy that does stainless. I have clips on the body for the lower piece but nothing evident for the upper and sides. How did those attach??

4 wheel alignment complete! As you might suspect from a frame straightened crasher, it was WAY off....

Going to get the Lexan and why shouldn't I take Boris to pick up his own rear "glass"? Obviously, I should take him! Only issue is that opening the trunk is still dodgey.. (see what I did there lol)... secret at the moment seems to be 1) let trunk lid sit "at rest", don't push it down. 2) Insert Craftsman "key" and turn clockwise 3) Push trunk lid forward just left of the lock opening.

Opening the trunk will become more important with a rear glass as I won't be able to reach the rear cubbies where the fuel filler nozzle lives. I'm thinking fuel filler and trunk latch are next on the list although he'll be sequestered to the garage for the winter soon.

Snagged a test piece that was big enough to cut 2 halves from as well as 1 piece that will do the entire rear "glass". Good thing I made the test pieces as I learned a lot. 1 thing was to remove the protective stuff from the inside before attaching to the car... The other, just be a bit more careful with the cuts.

Are you going to be able to see anything behind you?
The view in the rear view mirror is very thin but workable. I can see what's behind me for an pretty fair distance. Backing up is another question. I can't see squat, a backup camera will definitely need to be installed.

Cars and Coffee in Concord, NH this morning.. Comfortable drive, probably 1-200 cars, a few antique vehicles, mostly imports and super cars. Boris was well received. Took a ride to Portland, Me. About 300 miles today. Rolled over 83,000 miles, started driving it at 81,900.

I met up with Boris today, unfortunately I missed his creator. I arrived a little after 10:00 ( late as usual ) after meeting Boris I was checking out some of the other cars when Boris snuck around the corner and out of sight. Ah well theres always next year. Amazing work, it was great to see it up close.
