Big Blue, the 67 Crown Coupe - Managing Director Edition

Happy New Year, fellow Imperialists!
The infection in my leg appears to be under control and receding. This stay of 7 nights is the longest I've ever been in a hospital and I can't wait to get out. No word yet on when I might be released. I can do about 100 yards using a walker and strong opiates for the pain. While I've been in here, my son fetched the new license plates from the DMV and mounted them:
CRUZR 67.
I'm looking forward to getting back to work on Big Blue.
Thanks so much for your support.
So glad you're doing better... please get well as quickly as you can, I assume by your wording they still don't really know what happened?

Happy news! I'm sure you will be glad to be outta that place! If I ever see the inside of a hospital again it will be too soon!

The docs' best guess as to what happened is, a Strep bacteria got into a small cut, then invaded while the cut closed up, leaving no trace.

Well at least it isn't a Zombie bite those never end well I'm told...:)

Thanks, again gents. I'd love to get back to work on my Imp. Problem is, I'm still stuck in the hospital. Maybe today they'll let me know when I can get out.

The hospital is preparing my release papers. With any luck, I'll get out of here today, after 11 nights. Let's hope insurance covers everything or I'll be in deep doodoo.
Thanks again for all your prayers, positive energy and support.

Yay! Some good news for a change woohoo! Now make sure when you get home the leg will be fine in the garage but hurt like hell when the garbage needs to be taken out...figure you'll get a few weeks of sympathy till she catches on...:)

I feel for you...had the same thing my doctor called it cellulitus infection. I could not make it from the bed to the bathroom.
Almost 5 years later my calf is still swollen but no real pain.
Dipsticks...watch out for the cheapy Chinese chrome ones...they flex and the chrome falls off in your oil.
Correct tubes are available....I supplied Todd over at Hoffmans with some NOS ones and he has reproduced them.
The tube is an interference fit....hard to install even when to spec. I have dozens of NOS tubes and they all vary a couple of thou. You were given the right advice....sand the end to take a couple of thou off to ease install.
The Canadian MD...pretty sure it's Dr Brendan Hollohan...he has at least 8 Imperials .Even has one that he keeps in Ontario here for his yearly trip to MoparFest..I'm pretty sure it's an MD as well...dark green....I have some pics somewhere. Gross pic below cellulitis....my leg is actually bigger now but no pain.

Ouch looks like compartment syndrome - painful...wife has had it twice :(

I've had cellulitis before; twice. Recent problem was a related condition, where the muscle itself is infected, not just the skin layers. Both versions are painful as hell. Getting old sucks, but the alternative is not very attractive.
I'm confident one of the two dip sticks I modified will fit. It may be a few days before I can stand long enough to work on my cars. My teenage daughter will have to take out the trash.

Mighty fine, Dave! So glad to hear this news.

Man, this is getting to be more of a medical blog than a car story. So, I've been home from the hospital for over a month and can now limp around, slowly. Very pathetic compared to my condition before the leg went bad. My goal is to get back in my garage next week and resume the project. Fingers crossed.

Question: What's the best way to organize the car's documentation? One of those big scrapbook binders with clear sleeves?

I have a big folder in my filing cabinet, but I will never total the receipts, don't really want to know and I will never sell it.

Sorry to hear you're recovery is so slow, Dave.
