I don't have a 61 300 but I do have a 62 Newport Wagon. Here's some pictures.

That is way cool, my Dad had one very much like it, but it was light blue with black interior, 6 passenger with a 361.

I remember 2 instances very specifically about this car... One time when I was probably 4, he pulled over when meeting a neighbor on the road and evidently the guy had asked for some help with something as Dad just pulled the Chrysler off the road in a field approach and left with the guy for about 3 hours. This car and his '60 plymouth 9 passenger wagon were my babysitters many times as I was the youngest in the family and when Mom went to work and all the other kids went to School, I would ride with my Dad to my Grandfather's property where he cleared trees with an HD20 dozer, and I would stay in the car like a loyal dog for several hours at a time, many times over... Try that with today's kids.

Another time I remember riding in the back of the car when Dad led my oldest sister's horse home (about 9 miles) with the Chrysler, from my Grandfather's place. There were 3 small bridges on the gravel road to our farm and every time the horse would get close to one, he would lock all 4 and skid until he was on his ***. Then once he was across, Dad would stop and the horse would stand up, shake the dust off and start walking behind the car again like it was nothing. A mellow horse that evidently just didn't like bridges. I thought it was hilarious as a little kid and still think it's funny about 40 years later.

It was this car that the dash just facinated me as a kid, and again it still holds its influence. I got a pretty decent '61 New Yorker 2drht when I was about 24 or so.

Well I snuck my NY'er in between jobs and got the green on it. I hope to find the time to sand and buff it soon but this weekend is Fall Fling Mopar Show in California. Maybe next weekend.

Chris, that looks great! What color green is that?
It is a 2006 Ford Mustang color. It was a retro color Ford had in 2006 to match the 67-68 Mustang color. I couldn't get the original color in the type of paint I wanted to use so I started looking through the color chips to find somrthing close enough to match the door jambs and engine compartment. This color matches the original very close. I'll post more pictures tomorrow outside in the sun.

I think it was called Lime Gold by Ford.
