Made progress this week on the NY'er. Got the new carpet in and the new seats are in except for the drivers seat which will go in tomorrow. Here's some pictures.

I love white over black interiors, two of my cars will be white over black, one of them was originally and the other because I like it that much. Nice work!

Only premisses for two tone jobs was one exterior color had to be color keyed to the interior according to sales brochure which opens a very wide variety of color combos.

Then explain the red cars with the green interior....

with a white painted top ?
My idea of what the brochure says would be you either had to have a white interior for the white top or the same color as the other body color.
Of course this could be only a rule of thumb from what I know of German car brochures and actual combinations that actually were ordered and built.

Back in the '60s and '70s it was not uncommon for white upholstery and door panels to be paired with red or blue or brown or whatever color carpeting and usually the same color dash and steering wheel. It all depended on the paint color you ordered. Very nice.

That's the way I remember the way all the mfgrs. did it back then. The "white interiors" were white seats and door panels only.

Speaking for 70's and 71's when you ordered a white interior you got seats, door panels, headliner , sail and a pillar trim were all white. Dash, kick panels and Carpeting were black, console would have been black too if ordered with one.

1969 top..

Middle ...1970

1971 is last.

I have seen some 1969 Convertibles with white interiors and black A pillars. I dont know why some were black and some were white. I am trying to figure that one out. I just dont see enough of them to get a handle on it

It's small details like that cause the A, B, and E body guys to break out into fist fights. Us? We take it in stride.
