Car names

I have never named my cars, but my friends in High School named my '70 Runner the "Road Grader" and my '68 300 "Big Red".

I never named my cars when I was young.
But due to my girlfriends they became names to keep them apart.

On my c-bodys they are:

crusty- originally a badly rusted 69 300
turtle- 70 chrysler 300 with a tortoise roof
show car- my 69 Sport Fury CV factory show&pilot car
Popo- My 69 CHP Police Polara (=PoPo). On a sidenote Popo means in the german language colloquially "***"

I never named any of my cars. I had a hard enough time remembering wives/girlfriends names and not calling them by the wrong name...which I have done before.

My friends call my NYB "The Chrysler".

I named 1968 Plymouth Fury III "Doc" Partly because of the movie Cars. I have a lot of respect for Paul Newman the voice of the car the Hudson Hornet, and my younger brothers, and sisters started calling my car that and it stuck...... So His name is "Doc" 68 Fury Doc At Post Office.jpg

We haven't driven our convertible enough to think of a suitable name just yet!

I've named our past Goldwings though, Hercules, The Phoenix, "The 2 Wheeled RV" :D

I've never been a car namer until I got my '68 RR and uncovered this old paint job, it was immediately known as "Junkyard Dog" or the "DOG".

Awesome wall art Matt and the 68 finish panel. I have a finish panel that's still got 20 or 30 years of shelf dust and I'm torn between cleaning it or not and just hanging it .. on the wall that is. Will do when weather is better

I was even thinking of shooting some clear rattle can over it as is.

I also have 3 of those old plane's that I was thinking of selling but maybe I'll hang on to them and find a place in the garage for those too

another cool 68 can we see some better pics to show of that color? What is it Q5?

I agree, I like this one too. The blue looks great on it.
thats the finish panel that was on the "DOG" when I got it. I have a much nicer one ready to go back on him.

Here's some pics of my 68 fury. Iam not sure what the paint code is. Under the hood is lighter blue. The body is dark blue like a B5. It was like that when i bought it. I have spent a ton of time and money on mechanical parts of it. Rebuilt brakes, suspension, engine/transmission. Rear-end serviced with new axle bearings, seals ect. Its a very reliable consistent car. I will leave the body alone. I like the aged look.

The Monaco was called bulldozer in high school. The bumper was pulled out at the bottom and looked like a scoop. Now that she has had a facelift...she is now called "Tiny". My dad's nickname was Tiny...he was in no way tiny. Not in the overweight sense. To think about being spanked by those huge hands of his would make anyone behave. I remember him saying, "Marian, give your heart to God cuz the rest of you is mine." That was enough to make me straighten out. Looking back I realize what a gentle giant he was...he never had to spank me..I was a Daddy's girl.

My first car was a triple black 1974 Grand Prix named black death. I purchased it from my cousin who told me that the name came from some road trips he barely survived and the fact that the hood was so long you could not see anything in the road when cresting a hill.
