Carlisle 2015...who's going?

When I was 13 I wanted a Superbird on an elevated platform behind a glass wall in my living room.

It's good to know I'm not the only one with ideas like that

Oh yeah if was just me, I would be in a minimum 100×50 building that I could pull the truck and trailer straight through and the other half would hold cars and a travel trailer for the living quarters.

Years ago, In Canton Mich, there was a fellow named Chris Campbell who was a guitar player in the Silver Bullet Band and a huge Mopar fan.
He built a small industrial complex in Canton as an investment and kept one unit as his personal living quarters and shop. It was great. The front area was the living quarters, (quite nice), and it had a loft that was his man cave, with a glass wall to look down into the shop, which held all kinds of mopars from Max wedge's, an A12, and various other cool Mopars in different states of restoration.
It was always a treat to go there.

Dang! Not sure what I was thinking with the pic of that little house. This is more like it, and you could host the annual Carlisle barbecue.

Again, nowhere near enough shop space and I'd rather not have a house bigger than about 2,000 sq ft.. And since there should be a lot of floor to ceiling windows it should not have neighbors close enough to see and preferably be only barely visible from the street. Lots of trees and a rugged terrain would also be a plus.

I've been in a house that had a Model A Sport Coupe sitting in the living room in front of a picture window. The owner used to restore Model A Fords and this car was a National Award winner that he said was just too nice to drive. The rest of the living room was full of toy cars and stuff like that.

Oh yeah... and across the street... looking through the picture window you could see the local drag strip.

Pictures Will?

No.... Chris was pretty private about the place, and I never asked to take pictures. It was always somewhat of a privilege to be invited in. There was no way to know what was inside if looking at it from the outside. It was there for his enjoyment and that of his friends.

You can arrange a flight from Ramstein, Bob ? ;)
Hope I'll make it before you retire and come the other way round. ;)

I've got lots of pics of it through the construction process but they're not on my IPad.

We are in for a cool experience for Carlisle 2015....

Virgil Exner Jr. is going to be there to pick up honors for his Dad. A big feature for 2015 will be a Forward Look Reunion...

MEET VIRGIL EXNER, JR. IN 2015 AT CARLISLE
Automotive Designer onsite as Part of the Forward Look Reunion

The guests who find their way annually to the Carlisle Chrysler Nationals almost always have had a significant impact on the hobby. That is once again the case in 2015 as the event welcomes Virgil Exner, Jr. The younger Exner is the son of one of the most famous automotive designers ever, Virgil Exner, and will be at Carlisle as a guest for the Forward Look Reunion. In addition, he'll be heading to the Mopar Hall of Fame ceremonies on Saturday night of event weekend to pick up honors for his father.

Meet Virgil, enjoy his father's vision and a nice array of Forward Look cars as part of the 2015 Carlisle Chrysler Nationals, July 10-12.
