For us the industry has become all about averages. If you are giving it away in the front (selling price) you better be making it in the back (finance,protections,insurance etc). Most domestic dealers target $3K-$4k averages front & back - imports half that much which is why they don't move on price as much.
CSI means nothing anymore FCA puts customer service back on the dealers. 5 Star is long dead...DealerRater and Google reviews are all that count nowadays...

No doubt retail is a tough business no matter what you're selling these days. Having been there as a business owner I wouldn't recommend it to anyone. The OEMs seem to be your worst enemy. They'll open another outlet just down the street if they believe it will add sales volume. No such thing as "territory" anymore.

Stopped going to local dealer years ago. Simply put they are crooks. If I need to go to a dealer there is a good one in Hamilton.

I drove 2 hours out into the country away from DFW to get my truck. i did the entire dance. I love the whole dance. I had to wait in the room, and get up and walk out, and get the wife pissed off, all of it. the four square. slide across the table numbers. what payment can you live with. I got to go talk to the guy behind the door up in the fishbowl ill be back. do I want scotchguard on my scotchguard.

Love that - it is a dance alright. We actually appreciate a good negotiator. Better than no emotion at all. It gets tedious banging your head against customers all day so when someone shows up for the battle of wits with some weapons it makes our day!

That has got to be the worst f..king thing in the world, salesmen I can deal with, heres your price here is what i want to pay meet me in the middle then a nudge one way or another if not bye but the finance guy/gal at most dealers needs to be silenced. Walked out on our Trailblazer only reason we bought it was salesman with one leg (nice guy) chased me all the way to the door of my Pete parked on shoulder and promised me I would not have to talk to finance guy again. I hate buying transportation.
